[María I. ]According to all the learning theories you have studied, in your opinion, what should be the characteristics of the English classroom?

We are knowledge transmitters, aren´t we? Then our teaching center are students who we are going to help learn, to analize, to investigate, to experiment, to discover, to reflect, to analize in order they have different way of thinking, view point, and doing other things to change inability by competence, to give directions to be a proficient communicative learner English language under a ¨SPECIAL ENVIROMENT¨ where they feel confidence, recognized and respected where they also know their responsibilities and learn to follow rules.
We have to keep in mind that old Chinese proverb ¨Tell me and forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand¨ Because we are ¨MODEL¨, these words must be in our daily teaching. Awake the interest in our students through short planned, balanced, interesting and funny activities recovering previous knowledge about their real context to build meaningful english learning and they acquire a communicative competence

Be sure you include atmosphere, type of activities, teacher´s role, students´ role, discipline management...

¨Any genuine teaching will result if successful in someone´s knowing how to bring about a better condition of things than existed earlier¨

I agree with Alejandrina concerning rules, teachers has to be sure the students know them since the beginning of the course, and would add to involve also parents to analize them one by one to make them aware of the significance of these (because of the dicipline) and remark them through the course.

ACCORDING TO ALL THE LEARNING THEORIES YOU HAVE STUDIED IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT SHOULD BE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ENGLISH CALSSROOM:
Teacher must get a good environmet in their classroom, in order to reach at their goals. How can they have a good environment?
First.- They have to practice the rapport, recognising students by their names, listening to them, treating students with respect and being handed.
Second.- According to the teacher´s roles, they have to combine them, as controller (grammar explanation), assessors (telling students how well they are), prompters (help students to proceed working as a team work or another activity) and tutors (advisors).
Third.- About the types of activities, they have to vary them according to the topics and the ages of their students, have all that teacher needs for class, use technical skills (Technology and material design), have an interactive class, feedback, self evaluation, coevaluation, so teachers can improve their teaching.
Fourth.- About students roles, students have to participate constantly, interact with the teacher, and know the importance of learning English, so students can start being independent learners.
Fifth.- About discipline managment, teacher must be flexible, but at the same time strict, following the class rules that the teacher and students agreed since the beginning of the scholar year; teacher must be adaptable when there is an unforseen and be confident. Everything can be possible, if the teachers love their job.

Atmosphere in a classroom has to be peaceful, relaxing but it has to have funny elements in order to have better results with our Students, it is easy for any human been to learn in a nice environment when we don't feel us afraid or shy to participate.
Type of activities: we have to use different activities like work in pairs, work alone, work in teams, work the whole group, I enjoy too, work outside the classroom and it is interesting for Students because they know if they work nice and pay attention in the instructions and finish the activity we can work other times in the yard. I think variety in the activities es a good key to be a good teacher.
Teacher's role: Many years ago Teacher has the control of the class, nowadays We have to teach Students to learn by themselves and we are just the facilitator, helpers or coordinators no the controllers, so we have to be patient, friendly, respecfull, and never punish or ridicule students.
Student's role: They have to learn that the responsibility of learn is of them, if they don't pay attention, don't participate in the activities, is going to be difficult to learn and explore with the language (but teachers need to help them give them a good motivation)
Discipline management: Is a good tool for us because we can control the discipline in the classroom making teams or changing of place to the students, making different games, making a great warmp up or led in, and we don't need act like a strict person to control the class.

I agreed with Vera that we are only a facilitator, helpers and I can add something else, giving them confidence.

bounce Atmosphere: it' shoeld be a comfortable atmosphere for the students. Since they know it's time to english class, he/she feels realyy happy because it's a safety and funny place where they are able to manage on one's own.
Type of activities: they have to be dinamic and interesting for the students (depend each one) addapt to the group, use realia, work in teams, games, etc, but special work in different ways.
teacher role: it should be like a guide and monitor because like the teacher said " we can practice in other places" but the students are learning english and we have to help them.
Discipline: we have to be careful with this because if we dont'n establish rules at the beginning it's going to be a big problem (phisics and mental). When we have rules we have to respect them and the students too. I remember everyday thet we are in a pilot plan and we are responsable thet the students learn, love and use the english.
i love that Silvis said "children have wings and we teach them how to fly" We'll do it.
rEALLY i LOVE THAT sILVIS AND eRIKA MENTIONED ABOUT CHILDREN "cHILDREN HAVE WINGS AND WE TEACH THEM TO FLY" THANKS FOR THAT COMMENT Patricia Rivera.

The characteristics of the English classroom:
Teacher should create a positive classroom environment, organize the space in the classroom, so students can work on their own or in groups and also organize classroom time. The atmosphere should be respectful and pleasant.

The activities should be interesting, with topics related to their life and age, using realia and colorful material, prepare different short activities with communicative situations. Prepare games, and dynamic activities using all our senses and include variety. Have students experiment and discover.

Teacher’s and student’s roles, as teachers I think we have a lot of roles, sometimes we are guides, others an assessor or a resource. Student’s role is to be aware of their knowledge and practice all the time in class so they can learn, and teachers and students should work together cooperatively.

About discipline management, create some classroom rules with the students, and both, teachers and students, respect them. Use contracts, and try to work together with the parents, if it is possible.

Classmates’ opinions:
I agree with Jahimeh Teachers must not focus completely on the syllabus, because if you are free to change It, sometimes you can use other ideas that can make a successful class.
Also I think Jessica is right we must be very careful about the group we are teaching because all of them are different and we can’t use the same method from one to another.

Well in my case the first model gives me a lot of chances to reinforce my classes; now I should make quality and attractive activities, I will let ss do their job and I surely know that I have to be a different teacher not give them all the information; I have to let ss to think and I will ellicit more and the importance of filter is more clear. I prefer Vigostki because learning should based in competences so we need brickes to create knowledge. And all the examples that we have received are very important to make our classes more interesting and no boring classes.

Maybe this will help us to manage discipline and control misbehavour attitudes.

The comments of Alejandrina and Marcos are very clear and I agrre with them totally.

First of all I think one of the most important things we have to give our students is a classroom were they feel secure and comfortable, a place were they are treated well and obviously teacher most have a good rapport with their students.

The activities must be attractive to our students and design according to their age and way of learning; we also must bring our students a variety of activities so they don’t get bored and they get interested in the classes.

I think we as teachers need to be able to assume several roles during our classes because different situations occur during the class, some times we have to be controllers, assessors, monitors, etc.

I agree with Alejandrina, we have to set some rules at the beginning of the course in order to have good discipline in our classroom during the whole school year.

Celia said that is necessary to have a well equipped classroom and I do agree with her but unfortunately we are working for public education and I believe most of our schools don’t have all the materials and equipment we need but hopefully soon all of our schools will have all the materials and equipment necessary in order to have an exceptional English classroom.

Good afternoon everybody and teacher Gina, I would share with you my opinion about this foro.

The children stay many hours in the classroom and is very important that children have a nice environment. The atmosphere in the classroom should be confortable, they should feel confident, friendship and respect. The type of activities between ss' and teacher should be dynamics, actives, interesting, funnies so as the teachers´role is involve the ss' in the class, is guide them, coordinate, the teacher should be coherent and have empathy with them. and I'm agree with Alejandrina about the teaching techniques because is important we recognise the multiple intelligences that our ss' have. I also agree with Josefina about Discipline management because really is difficult with a lot of students, is very important in discipline management that the teacher establish rules and limits since the beginning and like Piaget says is very important we play in the class and do different activities like games in order to pay attention.

Best regards.

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF ENGLISH CLASSROOOM AS ALEJANDRINA SAYS INVOLVES A FRIENDLY, COMFORTABLE ENVIROMENT SO THAT STUDENTS FEEL RELAXED AND MOTIVATED TO SET A GOOD LEARNING PROCESS.
TEACHER´S ROLE IN CLASSROOM IS FACILITATE THE LANGUAGE LEARNING IN ORDER TO PROMOTE STUDENTS PARTICIPATION AND INTERACTION. THIS IS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE GOOD USE OF DYNAMICS AND THE SELECTION OF VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES AND MATERIAL WHICH HELP TO GET BEST RESPONSE FROM THE CLASS.
IN ADDITION, THAT THE STUDENTS MIGHT SOMETIMES HAVE A GOOD RESPONSE DUE TO THEIR INTEREST IN LEARNING BUT MIGH NOT BE INTERESTED. THIS PROBABLY HAPPENS BECAUSE THE TEACHER´S ATTITUDE, FOR THAT REASON IS IMPORTANT ESTABLISH A POSITIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEACHER AND STUDENTS WHICH CARRY OUT A GOOD DISCIPLINE IN CLASS.

During the learning of the second language in this case the English, is important to consider several aspects, for example: the activities that we are going to develop, the place of work must be comfortable, between others; especially when we work with children it performs supreme importance to create an environment in the lounge of classes where they feel insurances of being able to take part without being judged for being wrong, using activities that wake his interest up in them to continue learning, our paper as a teachers is important for the development of the previous points, which see us as his guides in this trip of knowledge and not as a problem in the way, like a obstacle.

In the measure that we as teachers also consider important points to know our pupils, what they like, what they do not like, what they can not stand; there help us also for them to feel well and capable of interfering in the learning of the English language; likewise it help us to know what type of activities we have to handle, how to handle them and for what reason.

I agree with my partners in several points, like Bety says that is important to consider the atmosphere in the classroom, it should be comfortable, also that students have to feel confident, friendship and also respect. The activities should be dynamics to have the interest of the students, also is important for the teacher to establish empathy with them. Also I agree with Alejandrina with the point that is important to recognize the multiple intelligences that our students have. It´s important too, to consider discipline in the classroom, establishing rules and limits since the first moment to avoid several problems in the future.

According to all the learning theories, teachers should create their classrooms in places where students enjoy their lessons, feel confidence to practice and participate in all the activities, a place where they feel important and respected by everyone. Teachers can find out what their students´characteristics by asking, observing them, asking at the end of the lesson if they liked the activities done in class. Teachers should change roles during his/her lesson, these roles will be appropiate to the type of lesson, activities, aims, level and age of the kids. The lessons should be dynamics, variety and not long. If you get the attention of the students with different activities, you will have a good discipline. I agree with my classmates´opinions, all are positives. Teachers are expressing their experiences and giving us good advices.

In my opinion, to have a good atmosphere in the English classroom is that the children feel confidence, peaceful and respect, so we can have satisfactory result. As teachers we need to have a strong rapport in order to get the environment we are looking for a better learning.
For activities I think they have to be dynamic, variety and meaningful.
A teacher´s role it´s a very important ability because in front of the class we need to be dynamic, prompter, tutor, organizer, observer, etc.
A student´s role is that they are constructors, active learners, enthusiastic and also they are responsable for the learner.
Discipline management: Teachers have to be observing of what the students are doing, we need to listen to them because if they see that we don´t care about them they are going to start a revolution in the classroom and we can lose the control, also we need a lot of patient and being intelligent of how are we going to treat them. Since the beginning we have to let them know the rules in our class.
I agree with Yessi it’s very important that teachers don´t have to undervalue students because each one has different abilities.

I think it is important that the teacher combine all the theories, sometimes we must use a traditional method, sometimes the constructivist method and other multiple intelligences.

We as teacher must be positive attitude is essential, confidents, If the teacher applies their roles properly, the classmates will respond to their roles as students to participate, learn, solve problems and investigate what they do.
I think is very important the teacher must combine all the roles, sometimes must be controller, prompter assessor, tutor, and observer.

A good teacher creates a comfortable environment according to necessities of their students in individual and general way.

I think that in a classroom it has to exist an environment where the classmates can feel secure, motivated, respected by the others (including the teacher), confident, it has to be a positive atmosphere where they can feel good about learning. The activities should be very dinamic including those where classmates develop their multiple intelligences.

Type of activities integrate the seven intelligences to make a funny dinamic, interesting class to integrate all students

The importance is that the Ss. be constructors of the knowledge participants and investigators they can manipulate and experiment. The role of the teacher is to make a good raport and be organizer and obser.

As my classmates mentioned, we all teachers have to create a classroom's atmosphere where students feel secure, confident, respected, motivated and supported. In order to get our ss´ attention We have to prepare our classes with activities which include the develop of multiple intelligences, we can also enrich them combining some behaviorist activities.

The atmosphere should be a comfortable atmosphere for the students. Since they know it's time to English class, they feel safe and really happy because it's a funny place where they are able to manage. Atmosphere in a classroom has to be peaceful, relaxing but it has to have funny elements in order to have better results with our Students, it is easy for any human been to learn in a nice environment when we don't feel us afraid or shy to participate. Type of activities: we have to use different activities like work in pairs, work alone, work in teams, work the whole group, work outside the classroom and these activities are interesting for Students because they know if they work nice and pay attention in the instructions and finish the activity we can work other times in the yard. I think variety in the activities is a good key to be a good teacher. The activities will be dynamic and interesting for the students (depend each one) adapt to the group, use realia, work in teams, games, etc, but special work in different ways. Teacher's role: Many years ago Teacher has the control of the class, nowadays I have to teach Students to learn by themselves and we are just the facilitator, helpers or coordinators, so I have to be patient, friendly, respectful, and never punish or ridicule students. Student's role: They have to learn that the responsibility of learn is of them, if they don't pay attention, don't participate in the activities, is going to be difficult to learn and explore with the language (but teachers need to help them give them a good motivation) Discipline management: Is a good tool for us because we can control the discipline in the classroom making teams or changing of place to the students, making different games, making a great warm up or led in, and we don't need act like a strict person to control the class. It’s very important that check the rules in group in order to involve the ss and the teacher.
