1.- because we are living in a globalized world and english has become the bridge among different countries whose mother tongue is not english. and if they learn english that will help them to have better opportunities on their academic and professional field.

2.- the problems that i have as a teacher are:

a) bad study habits
b) lack of parents support to reinforced the english lessons
c) ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).

Claudia, I´m totally agree with you, just I´m 24 years old, but I´m remember those "traditional classes ", we had to memorize everything, write word and verb list, and those kind of classes were very very boring, I´m in my case never understand and learn anything, but, if we change that method we can motivate to the kids, they´ll know that they can learn with plays and funny classes, and reading all that we write here, we can realize that each one have different opinions and maybe solutions that are important.

1.- English is necesary in this amazing world, kids are in contact all the time with english, through the movies, music, cartoons etc. but most of the times they have no idea what are they learning or singing and they use a lot of words in english and everyday they are more and more in contact with this lenguage and in a few years if you don't know english you will be analphabet. We need to encourage children and explain them the importance of learning this lenguage.

2.- I guess the main problem to teach english in mexico is the same that we have in all the things we do and it is the culture, In Mexico everything we do always is with an awful perspective, and it is something children have in this time, they cannot see how useful is going to be a new lenguage, they just see that an english class represents just more work for them, I know that it's not a general situation but most of kids have this perspective.

Well, as I said parent's and children's attitude so English teachers must be able to change their point of view and I agree with you about reinforcing some skills in Spanish and remember: when your learn a second language your mother tongue is automatically reinforce.

On other hand I think songs are amazing for them, i have used some movements in the songs and I have discovered that they can learn the lyrics on this way.

I think the English is the excuse, you can try to change the minds of the children’s teaching English, you have the advantage that in this topic you don´t put a qualification, and you can to introduce to your child´s the for the knowledge, not the necessity of a grade, just the love for now something new, and that´s and important fact in this days.
The firs barrier to do this is the context in self, all the things around the child´s are made for distract and no for the best interest of the kids.

Hi Nancy, I'm agree with you, is very difficult to involve parents in english class so that they help us at home with their kids, I think it will be really hard to change the habits of children and I think we have a difficult work to convince Mexico about importance of english but it's a great chance to change our country directly, I hope most of those children have a good chance when they grow up.

I agree with you claudia we need to motivate students to learn english also to start watching more english television and to use this language even to practice with family members since more people in mexico are learning english. Why should mexican kids learn English?
Well I think kids are the future of our society, if they get all the opportunities that the life provide them now, as learn English, They will have the tools to face this world that is growing too fast.
Now a days people who knows or speak another language have better opportunities, bgetter jobs, better incomes, now imagine this in ten or more years.

What are the main obstacles you face when teaching them?
The obstacle that I faced all the time since I am an English teacher is "parents", because for them any other subject is more important that English. When they change their minds and they encourage their children to study as the same as Math or Spanish subjects, kids understand the importance to learn English as a second language.

1.-They need to know other languages not only the English, because the world is changing every moment.
Mexico needs more people, who can speak in other languages, because our country has many trades of market not only with U.S.A. Shocked

2. - The main obstacles are the ideas of the parents because most of them think: “why my children need to learn English if they never use it”, in the other hand other parents say: “why the teacher doesn`t teach well”.
Other obstacle is the practice because most of the children only practice English in class but sometimes at home. In most of the cases the parents can not help them because they are working and don`t have time.
3.-paty I agree with you because if we grow with English we understand better and the ideas of the parents because if they help us the kids learn faster.
mary if we can learn other languages when we are kids we can win the world. And you say that keep the attention is the most important specially in the preschool but if you win that with different activities you are a very good teacher.

It is important that we as a Teacher speaks in English all the time, because we are the only contact with the foreign language that kids have.

At the very beginning I was like you feeling that kids don't understand me and don't pay attention to what I was saying, so what I did is use mimic and let them to guess what I'm saying, incredible there's someone who is the translator in this way kids keep interested and all of a sudden my classes were in English, of course I still speak Spanish sometimes, but every time is less, because my students are in contact with the language and they try to speak in English too.

1. To the develope their skills when they got the opportunity to go further on their academic life and be prepared as an adults with abilities that require to face today´s world and be competitive with new technologies and advance.
2.The main obstacle for these students is that: their are not depply involved with a foreinger language than their mother tongue. Then to get them to learn and be able to communicate one each other that´s when we as a teachers take action, so we have to be very well prepared in order to transmit the best knowledge that we had acquired in english.
Also: In our country, most of the population including young children they are frequently in contact with english language because the songs that we heard, or the marketing advertising world that we watch and heard on the tv although, that it is not enough to be able communicate.
3.-As far as I´ve read my classmates and I we agreed the lackness of knowledge in publics schools of english language for initial education.

Yes I understand you... but guess what just my husband says ho why I have to learn english very well..? and if I undesrtand I can do bisness.... and he says if the american people don't speak spanish very well and it's funny to listen them .... Rolling Eyes

oviously he makes me be engry but.... I ca't change his mind.... even he is supporting me everytime in my work and he told me he is very happy about me because I really love teach and I want to learn more about the english....
In other hand I mean the mexican people are confortable living in these areas because mexico is wonderful,and maybe they think is not nesesary to try diferents ways to live,speak and communicate if it result good for sell things on the beach they decide don't spend time and money, I think it is a result for a social ideas..

1.- Because it is the language more used around the world and keep us closer for another countries people in order to know more about theirs culture besides it´s so funny to learn it.

2.- The age is the first obstacle to learn it because bigger child have more grief and blocked psychologically to learn it than the youngers child I see the youngest take it as part of their comprehensive training and have no objection to meet it.

3.- Up date is something that I haven´t thought never but now I think it's really important, I think it´s a good advice and if we do it we will keep in touch with students, their tastes and preferences in order to be more friendly with them, by the other hand, set limits with students is very important, especially to do it from the beginning of the schoolar cicle to make the class more comfortable.

1.- Because actually it´s very important and necessary to learn other language. Everyday they see brands, advertisements, and messages in english, consequence of the global world, and it´s a very important tool that they are familiarized with this language considered one of the most important.

2.-The behaviour of the children, because some of them doesn´t have a functional family, and they want attention and care, so the teachers have to be comprehensive and pacient.

1-We know ,that in this time it`s necesary to have interrelationship with others countries .,and the most common and necessary language is English. So when the kides grow up and get a gree they have to get a good preparation,inclues knowing another language.And I think English.
Is the principal language that we have to learn like second language.If the kids begin to learning this language since they`re child is easier to learn it,because they`re like a sponge and absorb everything. If they learn English,they will have better opportunities in life .
2-They are shy,when I ask that participate on questions and answers, and they intteracting in class. Frecuntly they don`t realize activities at home for to continue practicing their skills as song,dialogues etc.
Vanessa has a concept similar to mine. I understand your opinion that the child learns more easily than the teen.
I don`t agree with opinion of Diana. Because when we seek and practice strategies to call children`s attetion and involves them in activities they forget for a moment their problems of home and engage in work or class activity.

HI! NANCY.I agree with you because the would is growing and the oportunities for work in agood job are low and another thing very important that you mention is taht the students and parents don`t take an importance to the language. Very Happy

BECAUSE ENGLISH IS THE MOST WIDLEY USED LANGUAGE IN THE WORLD AND MORE THAN HALF OF THE WORLD'S BOOKS ARE IN ENGLISH. IT WILL GIVE OUR CHILDREN MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO COMMUNICATE, GET TO KNOW OTHER CULTURES AND IT WILL BE AN EXTRA TOOL IN THEIR LIFE.
PROBLEMS THAT WE FACE: i WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A LITTLE MORE TIME, THEY ARE IN TOUCH WITH THE LANGUAGE ONLY THREE HOURS A WEEK. I WOULD ADD WHAT NACY O. SAYS, THAT CHILDREN DON'T COUNT WITH THEIR PARENTS SUPPORT. OUR SS. GO HOME AND THEY ARE NOT IN TOUCH WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE UNTIL THEIR NEXT CLASS. MOST OF MY SS. TEACH THEIR PARENTS, WHAT THEY'VE LEARNED IN CLASS. IN MY CASE, PARENTS ARE VERY PLEASED BECAUSE THEIR CHILDREN ARE LEARNING ENGLISH. (MOST OF THEM).

Hello Nancy, I agree with you in letters a) and b). About letter c), I think that this is consecuence from letters a) and b). Have a good and marvelous day!!!

My commet to Fabiola is to say that in my case, parents are happy with me because I always smile and explain them that for me the most important is the future of their chindren, then I ask for their cooperation.Some of them help me, others no, but it is better somethin than anything.
