1. Movies, video games, technology, TV programs, expressions....most of them are in English so that English is getting power in our country. Nowadays English as a second language is a good option to improve our "modus vivendi" and to raise up our children. And I think that as younger as a child learn a new language is better. they have the capacity to learn more than one language.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?
2. Most of the parents do not realize the importance of learn a new language. Others do no have time to be with thier kids so they are abandon because the parents are working all day.
READ YOUR CLASSMATES OPINIONS AND WRITE AT LEAST TWO COMMENTARIES FOR TWO OF THEM.

sunny Hello there,

ATTITUDE, I think this is the main obstacle.
When we are talking about attitude I mean parent's and children's attitude. Because some parents still think leaning English is useless and children have the idea that English class is just another subject. So they have to take it in order to get a grade.
Let's demonstrate them that learning a second language is funny and very useful.

Lovely weekend,

Hi, this is Alicia and I also think that the "attitude" is the main obstacle. If a parent really want to support their kids they do it. it does not matter which subject they are learning. I liked what you said let's demonstrate them that English it could be funny, useful and interesting.

Angel Gabriel Torres escribió:WHY SHOULD MEXICAN KIDS LEARN ENGLISH?1.- Not only children but also adults are greatly benefitted by speaking, writing and understanding English. Nowadays it is very important to people studying and preparing for life. A great number of industries requires the use of English, so it is very important to be in contact with this language. Children are likened to sponges because they absorb so much, but LOOK OUT!!!.... sponges can lose a lot as well, as do children who have not had the opportunity to retain what they´ve seen.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?2.- I think the main obstacle is the poor reading and writing ability in primary school . A great number of students in this level cannot neither reading nor writing, as a result they are not able to retain information. It is very important for primary teachers the reinforcement in reading and comprehension activities. After getting good results in our own language, we can be able to teach and learn another language, in this case, English language.

Hi, this is Alicia. it is true what you say in number 1, just guess if knowledge comes at earlier ages, we will have better workers, professionals, adults.

In Europe is common that people speak more than one language and its opens to them the possibility to be best prepared to face the global world, so why not to trust in the ability of Mexicans kids and give them the opportunity to discover another world trough English language.
Also learning English let Students to develop other sides of their brains, and to develop other skills. For example I have noticed that for some Students is easier to count in English that in Spanish, it happened to me in one of my schools.

The main obstacles that I face teaching English, is that teachers haven’t understand, that English have to be talkative and It is impossible Students are quite, because they have to repeat and speak.

I agree with Maria Caltenco it is difficult to keep children attention for a long period of time, so the classes have to be dynamics and you always need to make up new ways of teaching English trough games, songs, etc. Paola Diaz

Claudia Serrano Alejandri escribió:Hi, everybody!
With the growth of computer networks, kids have the opportunities to interact with English speaking people in order to meet them, to explain their culture, to play, to share, to learn and so on. I mean the opportunities are virtually unlimited and it could be one of the reasons why kids should learn English. Moreover the influence that the social and cultural contexts exert on the motivation of Mexican kids become more evident when they talk about issues related to their future plans, for example: traveling to a foreign country, reading foreign products, singing in English and understanding lyrics and considering English as a tool that facilitates the achievement of academic and professional success when they grow up.
By Claudia Y. Serrano Alejandri

I agree with Claudia Alejandri there is a strong social and cultural contexts that involves the use of English, and we can live separate from it, nowadays it is part of our life and we can avoid that fact.

TEACHING TECHNIQUES I - Página 3 Empty It´s a need to know a new lenguage

Why sould mexican kids learn english?

This is an interesting cuestion because I remebered that my mother used to tell me “Karla you have to go to english classes” So I´ve been studing english since I was a child but I used to hate it. Now a days I asked to my mother “Why did you want that I leared english?” and she told me that the main reason was that she had bee listened to one announcer that adviced, in 1990, sending the child to engish classes because in 2000 most people at Mexico City will speak english, so if you don’t speak engish by that time you will be an incompetent and an ignorant. Therefore right now I am teaching english. As a comercial trade university graduate I worked at the airport, at the a costoms office, an international company and now I coul tell that If the new generations don’t speak another lenguages:
• They can´t get a better job,
• They can´t communicate whit other people arown the wold and one day if they have their own company the can´t grow up as an international company.
• They can´t know new cultures
• They can´t get at fist hand the news.
As a worldwide we have to learn a new lenguage

What are the main obtacules that you face to the classroom?

There are a lot of but I think the main are:
• The numbers of one group (there are a lot of sutents for group )
• The lack of interes (In fact is not a condition for all the students but I think that the child that are more restless are the most unselfish)
• The lack of interes for the parents bacuase some of them thinks that is a waste time
• I wanted that at all my calsrooms has a cannon and a computer. Bacause the tecnology helps and it helps a lot

Why should mexican kids learn english?
Because is necessary a sencond lenguage, and the most important is english, is using everywhere (more or less); in states where there are more turism, many of these people talk in english, and if the mexicans don't speak en english we are loosing many oportunities to increace economicly, for example.

What are the main obstacles you face when teaching them?
The students practice english almost only in the classroom, many of their parents don't speak, don't know this leanguage, they can't reforced their knowledge, is difficult help them whit homeworks, excercises; and if they don't have some money they can't pay a private school or classes.

you are right, today, if you want student some sciences for example mathemathics, medicine, physics, etc, many of material like books, publications, magazines, that you need read, study or congress to go, all are in english, so is very important.
