If you were asked to create a new methodology for English Teaching, what could be some of its principles?
ok' I think that as a good teacher, you have to observe your students and consider their age.
Being aware of their abilities and their learning styles. Giving them the opportunity of working in a free way. Not only giving them self-confidence but also giving them a good environment for they enjoy all the activities you are qualified.

Include at least 5 principles use the information of the methods you have studied and don't forget the theories of learning.

1.- Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) is still widely used in language classrooms especially for teaching at lower levels. It takes no account of other ways of learning and understanding. It's very learning based and takes little account of students acquisition abilities.
Play is an important and necessary part of the student's cognitive development. (Jean Piaget).
2.-Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Language involves also functions such as inviting, agreeing and disagreeing, suggesting, asking for information, etc.
Every person has a strong desire to realize his or her full potential, to reach a level of "self-actualization" (hierarchy of needs by Maslow)
3.- Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) Students talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world.
People experience high points in life when the individual is in harmony with himself and his surroundings. (hierarchy of needs by Maslow)
4.- Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) Students should learn to perform language functions using a variety of language exponents being aware of the need for appropriacy when talking and writing to people.
(formal, informal, tentative, technical, etc).
Multiple inteligences by Gardner.
Young children develop their thinking abilities by interacting with other children, adults and the physical world (Social Learning by Vygotsky).
5.- Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) teacher presents the context and situation for the language, He explains and demonstrates the meaning and form of the new language. Students practice making different sentences using the new item.
Knowledge is internalized by learners through processes of accommodation and assimilation (Cognitive Development by Piaget).

My own method of teaching English could be a mix of theories in order to create a diversity of strategies to get success with students. Like a teacher I must be motivator, assessor, moderator, facilitator and interested in my students.
1.- Students practice making different sentences and involve drilling. Include a variety visual material, songs, make exercises to practice all the skills.
2. Students perform real life tasks such getting information about making a presentation on certain topic. It means to practice with different topics to enrich the vocabulary.
3. Emphasis on speaking. Practice all the time, if students do not understand make gestures, mimics etc..
4. Humanized classroom. Be considered on students and interested in their problems.
5. Opportunities to try real language. Practice with topics and use realia.
I agree with my partner when she mention to motivate students and include a variety of material to teach and students find the class more interesting

Grammar- Translation Method.- Write sentences in target languages, using the memorized rules an vocabulary.- The use of the comparison between two languages, makes than the students develop the interesting about new language and they look for more information of different topics, ss must mainly verbs and new vocabulary. Cognitive ( meaningless ). It corresponds to academic knowledge such as learning vocabulary or multiplications tables. Carl Rogers.
Gouin's Direct Method. ss self correction of errors (mistakes). Need to Understand Their ss errors. The ss to overcome its own exercises or tests with the help of the teacher so they can see, understand and analyze their mistakes, no precise tolerance on the part of teacher or peers to learn to flow harmoniously.
- People experience high points in life When the individual is in harmony with Himself and historical surroundings, Abraham Maslow.
Audio-Lingual Method. Emphasis on speaking. Ss will have the opportunity to listen to their peers and talk to each other to develop their skills in speaking and writing.
Multiple Intelligences - Howard Gardner - Linguistic Intelligence.
PPP (Presentation, Practice, Production) ss Different practice making sentences using the new item, May Involve drilling (controlled practice) ss Using present materials issues, media, games, inside and outside the classroom and include their peers, motivate each other.
Multiple Intelligences - H. Gardner, Interpersonal Intelligence,
Cognitive Development - J. Piaget, Play and Necessary is an important part of the student's Cognitive Development.
CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) ss develop all communication skills, learn new songs.
ss use language to communicate formal, informal, tentative and technically, giving himself confident and motivated themselves. Multiple Intelligences, H. Gardner. Intrapersonal Intelligence, Bodily-kinesthetic Intelligence, Linguistic Intelligence.
Is difficult try to mix differents methods without confused, becouse the methods can have many aspets in relation with other. My patners have right in use all methods and mixed.

If I create a new methodology, some of its principles will be:
1.- My students use like CLT says, language, because language is more than just patterns of grammar it involves too functions such as inviting, agreeing and disagreeing, suggesting, asking for information, etc.
2.- My students use PPP, in order to practice making different sentences using the new item, may involve drilling.
3.- My students in my methodology like PPP says talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world (production sstage).
4.- If my students like CLT says get enough exposure to language and have many opportunities for language use, and if they are motivated, then language learning will take care of itself.
5.- And finally, my methodology wiil be according my students because they have different age and different life's style.and like Howard Gardner says I have to care the multiples intelligences that my students have.

I´m agree with the methodology that jaqueline and Alicia sugessted.

To begin with.We are going to be teaching children who do not have yet a criterion.They will learn from us,we are going to be their tutor(mentor),responsible for their learning and at the time if they need some kind of information then they have to be certain that we are their right resource.Therefore we have a great responsibility in educating these children.We need to show them,teach them to be responsible,truthful and honest for them to embrace good moral and personal principles.We need to conduct ourselves with integrity and uprightness.These kids will be observing and maybe adopting our behavior as they grow.Having said this as a basis then I can go next to the teaching principles.
Understanding that there is not a perfect method and mine will not be the exception due to students have multiple intelligences and each one learn differently.However,I can adopt the best of each one of the methods and theories already known and use them according to my students need.

INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES.USING THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DO NOT FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.

-We, as well as children learn better when we enjoy what we do as learning.Uncle PIAGET mentions that learners obtain their knowledge through a reframing,which is confronting already known experiences with new ones and suggests that playing is an important part for this development.This can be acquired through CLT activities.

-According to bro.VYGOTSKY when young children socialized with learners of different culture and background they develop thinking abilities.That is why we as teachers need to create communicative active lessons.

-Taking gran'pa CARL ROGERS theory I can create activities were students focus their attention based upon experiences they already have and relevant to their personal interests.TBL is the most appropriate.

-We need to have a good environment where children be able to feel secured,cared of,respected etc.So they can build a good self-esteem themselves and a healthy growth.pal. ABRAHAM MASLOW.

-Since we are a multi-intelligence people, I will use comrade. HOWARD GARDNER's theory to create different activities as singing,reciting,kinestheric games etc.

3.-STUDENTS TALK MORE FREELY ABOUT THEMSELVES OR OTHER PEOPLE IN REAL WORLD.PPP
4.-STUDENTS SHOULD LEARN TO PERFORM LANGUAGE FUNCTIONS USING A VARIETY OF LANGUAGE EXPONENTS BEING AWARE OF THE NEED FOR APPROPRIACY WHEN TALKING AND WRITING TO PEOPLE.CLT
5.-MEMORIZE LISTS OF VOCABULARY ITEMS AND THEIR MEANINGS. GRAMMAR TRANSLATION METHOD
I THINK THAT CLASSMATES MAY CREATE A NEW METHOD BY USING THE NECESITIES THEY HAVE, BUT THE MOST OF THE PEOPLE HERE IN MEXICO NEED TO SPEAK ENGLISH, THAT'S WHY THIS IS THE METHOD I'LL USE.

1. Exclusive use of the target language in the classroom, no translation (Direct Method)
2. Language is more than just patterns of grammar with vocabulary items, involves also functions such as
inviting,agreeing and disagreeing,asking for information,etc. CLT (Communicative Language Teaching)
3. Emphasais on communication, opportunities to try out real language. CLT
4. After the task has been completed, students look at the lenguage they have used and work on any mistakes
they hace, correcting grammar or sytle. TBL (Task-Based Learning)

*Since 1780s people have been argued about the best way of teaching, I think that we can't said that only one method its funcional, as we saw in module 1, all students are different and also have different needs, teachers need to know about our students in order to know how to mix properly all this teaching methods and use it.

* Communicative activities are the heart of learning.
About the theories we were asked. I don´t have any information. I suppose that these theories were seen in the last course. I hope to have this information soon.
I agree with Michell because it is true that in our classrooms we have different needs it is important to mix properly
the methods we will use.

I would choose the best of each method and I would consider some basic elements like:
Meaningful exercises and meaningful use of the language.
Emphasis on the 4 skills. Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading.
Students perform real life tasks.
Encourage students to participate actively in a playful and natural way.
Provide activities that motivate students and help them to acquire confidence and independence.
I would be as a teacher, a facilitator and design comunicative activities considering learning styles, rythm and interests of the students.

NEW METHODOLOGY FOR ENGLISH TEACHING CREATED BY
MAGDA LUZ OCHOA AVILES

Based in what we learned my methodology could be....
with its principles:
To have different sources for the activities. Giving them many opportunities to develop their language learning.

To see the students as active thinkers. Giving them self confidence.

To give encourage allowing them to construct theories about the world.

To consider their age and understand their styles of learning to respond to their learning needs and interests.

To work in groups. Giving them the opportunity of working in a free way.

(1)DM Meaningful exercises and meaningful use of the language. Interactive manner behavior between students and the language. Giving them a good environment they enjoy all the activities. These are what we can get from this method.

(2)ALM Emphasis on speaking, the students are able to create their own combination of words. This is the best of this method.

(3)PPP To use the new item making sentences , may involve drilling situations and talk freely about themselves or other people in the real world . We can get a lot from this method.

4 (CLT) In this case we exposure the students to the language giving them many opportunities for language use and being motivated because is about language and how it is use, no grammar no vocabulary only how to perform the functions and variety of language. In this method also the emphasis of communication, being aware of the need for appropriacy when talking and writing to people: formal, informal, technical, tentative, etc) this method would be very effectively.

(5) TBL This method is good because we both teachers and students to concentrate on how to achieve things with language and how to use language for certain tasks. The communicative activities are the focus of learning.

Finally the evaluation must be through observation of work and exhibition.

I agree with some of my classmates because I realize that they are getting the constructivist system but others doesn´t change their traditional ideas.

PRESENTATION-PRACTICE-PRODUCTION METHOD.-
TEACHER PRESENTS THE CONTEXT AND SITUATION FOR THE LANGUAGE; TEACHER EXPLAINS AND DEMONSTRATES THE MEANING AND FORM OF THE NEW LANGUAGE; SS PRACTICE MAKING DIFFERENT SENTENCES USING THE NEW ITEM, MAY INVOLVE DRILLING (PLAY, DIFFERENT PICTURES, BOARD, SONGS, FLASH CARDS); SS TALK MORE FREELY ABOUT THEMSELVES OR OTHER PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD.

I CAN RELATE THESE PRINCIPLES WITH THREE THEORIES: GARDNNER'S MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES; VYGOTSKY'S SOCIAL LEARNING AND BRUNNER'S DISCOVERY LEARNING.-
THE LINGUISTIC INTELLIGENCE INVOLVES SENSITIVITY TO SPOKEN AND WRITTEN LANGUAGE, THE ABILITY TO LEARN LANGUAGES AND THE CAPACITY TO USE LANGUAGE TO ACCOMPLISH CERTAIN GOAL.
INTERPERSONAL INTELLIGENCE.- HAS TO DO WITH THE CAPACITY TO UNDERSTAND THE INTENTIONS, MOTIVATIONS AND DESIRES OF OTHER PEOPLE. IT ALLOWS PEOPLE TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WITH OTHERS.
VYGOSKY'S SAYS, THAT ACQUIRING SOCIAL MEANING OF IMPORTANT SYMBOL SYSTEMS AND LEARNING HOW TO UTILIZE THEM IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT SOCIAL INTERACTION WITH OTHER MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE.
AND THAT THE LEARNERS HAVE TO BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE LEARNING PROCESS.
AND THE LAST ONE IS BRUNNER'S DISCOVERY LEARNING THEORY: HE MENTIONS IN HIS PRINCIPLES THAT IT IS THE BEST FOR LEANERS, TO DISCOVER FACTS AND RELATIONSHIPS FOR THEMSELVES, THIS WAY THEY MAY BE MORE LIKELY TO REMEMBER CONCEPTS AND KNOWLEDGE. I AGREE WITH VICTOR VELAZQUEZ, WHEN HE MENTIONS PIAGET'S PRINCIPAL "LEARNERS OBTAIN THEIR KNOWLEDGE THROUGH A REFRAMING, WHICH IN CONFRONTING ALREADY KNOWN EXPERIENCES WITH NEW ONES AND SUGGESTS THAT PLAYING IS AN IMPORTANT PART FOR THIS DEVELOPMENT.
i AGREE WITH MICHELLE OSORIO WHEN SHE SAYS THAT, WE CAN'T USE ONLY ONE METHOD FOR OUR TEACHING, ALL SS ARE DIFFERENT, THEY HAVE DIFFERENT NEEDS, THEY LEARN IN DIFFERENT WAYS AND I WILL ADD DIFFERENT TIMES, SOME LEARN VERY FAST AND OTHERS TAKE THEIR TIME.

If I were asked to create a new method, I would say that there isn´t a best method because, as teachers we have to take into account our students, that means their abilities, characteristics, and their way of learning.
I tried to mix the methods in order to make the best, that includes the elements that I considered are the most important in each method, but is difficult to choose only one because some methods have more important elements.


1. Step by step progression of material, generally from easy to difficult. Direct Method.

2. Use of mechanical drilling to teach production and discrimination. Audio-Lingual Method

3. Students talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world. PPP.

4. Humanized classroom.

5. Communicative activities are the heart of learning.

1. Read good literature, history, culture of the language, etc. GTM
2. Structures and rules are learned by example, demostration not formulation, analogy rather than analysis. ALM
3. Students tal more freely about themselves or other people in the real world. PPP
4. If students get enough exposure to language and have many opportunities for language use, and if they are motivated, then language learning will take care of itself. CLT
5. Students perform real life task such as getting information about airplane timetables or making a presentation on certain topic. TBL
Of course, all the activities include the 4 skills. also we have to think about the age, habilities, the different way they learnt, and look around their environment.

I agree with Maria about the four skills are impontant in the same way. I think that the TBL is very useful for attaining develop them .

I think that Martha is very smart and creative, she looks like a person who likes to take risks intelligently regardless if she is right or wrong, which further demonstrates that it is very confident and she is willing to learn from this wonderful experience of being a teacher, Congratulations dear partners!!!!!

IN MY OPINIÓN THE NEW METHODOLOGY COUL BE

WELL FIRST I NEED TO KNOW CHARACTERISTICS AND AGES OF MY LEARNERS ..... FOR EXAMPLE 6-7 YEAR OLD, FIRST GRADE. AFTER THAT I NEED TO TAKE CARE MY OWN PERSONALITY IN ORDER TO SHOW THE BEST OF MINE BECAUSE WIDELY KIDS TAKE PART OUR PERSONALITY AS A PATTERN TO FOLLOW IN THEIR LIFE.

A).- I AM AGREE WITH VICTOR WHEN HE POIN OUT THAT “Understanding that there is not a perfect method and mine will not be the exception due to students have multiple intelligences and each one learn differently” DUE TO THE LEARNERS HAVE MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES AS HOWARD GARDNER SAYS, IN FACT EVERY LEARNER HAS DIFERENT WAY TO GET THE NEW KNOWLEDGE.

IF YOU WERE ASKED TO CREATE A NEW METHODOLOGY FOR ENGLISH TEACHING, WHAT COULD BE SOME OF ITS PRINCIPLES?
INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES. USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.
READ AT LEAST TWO PROPOSALS FROM YOUR CLASSMATES AND GIVE YOUR OPINION NO LATER THAN MONDAY.
Teachers have the duty to update continuously to find the best route of teaching learning and help students, they need to reflect on what they do and why they do it. In addition to look for the best methods, strategies or techniques to use in the classroom.
Every method has its advantages and it must be used according the necessity of students, before adapting a method I must consider some aspects, size group, level, grammar structure and its function, context, kind of students between others.
There are many methods, it is very necessary to study about each method to find the advantage, although I have the decision I must identify and adapt them carefully.
Methods are suitable for different teachers and learners, some are more for older learners, others; for younger. Methods have its strengths and weaknesses.
Grammar translation or Classical method.
- It is useful to learn rules and vocabulary.
- It has a high level on literature, history and culture of the language.
- Reading and writing the two skills most developed.
Direct method
- It is worked in real context and at the end students write a conclusion or essay in their own words.
- Too many questions answer continuously to have a conversation practice.
- Use of objects, realia or pictures and aloud reading.
- Self-correction facilitates language learning.
- Pronunciation is well worked and the goal is to communicate.
Audio-lingual
- The teacher is like an orchestra leader, directing and controlling the language behavior of her students. Students are imitator of the teacher’s model or the audios she supplies of model speakers.
- Ss. Follow the teacher´s directions and respond as accurately and as rapidly as possible
- Rules are figured out or induced on the example.
- Repetition, chain, substitution transformation, and transformation drills are more performed.
- Grammar are induced from the examples given, teacher doesn´t provide explicit grammar.
- One of the teacher´s responsibilities is present information about culture.
TBL Task-Based Learning Method
- Communicative activities are the core of learning.
- Teacher needs to seek ways to involve students and provides opportunities on the task to develop the four skills.
- Ss. Need to work on a pre-task that they will later do individually.
- The tasks give students more opportunity for authentic and meaningful interaction.
- This method is worked on three tasks:
Information gap activity: students exchange information by describing a picture.
Opinion gap activity work on personal preferences, feeling or attitudes, give solutions to a social problems, compose a letter, give advices to a friend in a dilemma.
Reasoning – gap activity. Students investigate for new information.
- Another approach is Project Work. This is developed in three stages: for example a school newspaper.
1. - Ss work in the classroom panning and assigning roles in collaboration with the teacher.
2. - Typically takes place outside the classroom.
3.- Ss. Review and monitor their project and receive the feedback from the teacher.
PPP Method
- In the beginning teacher presents the context for the language.
- He demonstrates the meaning of the new language.
- In the middle teacher and Ss. Work on controlled drills.
- In the end, it is the production stage. Ss talk more freely.

As my classmates say, we need a combination of methods to use in the classroom.

1.-I think that create a new methodology must be difficult, we must realize that the methods we know are from people who worked hard to learn about human´s brain and the way we learn, but it is important to try different ways of learning to different groups, the students are different not because of their ages, you can have 5 groups with same age children, and every group very different, so at first you must know your children, what I´m sure about is that speak in english is really necessary in the classroom, and I have some methods that I like the most; one is the PPP, because even students have to work in drilling with different sentenses about the context, they are freely in the production, you must let students try, this will make them be confident and happy to try as many times as needed, until they reach their goals.
the TBL is also fine, as students perform real life tasks but also correct their grammar, the goal of learning english or any other language is, at least, to communicate ourselves with others, so these two are the methods I prefere.
2.-we musn´t forget our children have different ways of learning as well as interests, needs, habits, aptitudes and social environment, we must remember that they have different kind of abilities; planning a good class, will bring us to the learning of our different children´s inteligences, the linguistic, analytic, creative etc...and we as teacher have to enjoy teaching, children know when you are prepared and happy, and you transmit all these things to them...english is not that difficult, it´s easier than spanish, the grammar, the times of the verbs, everything is easier, if you think in give them the knowledge and the motivation, they will learn.
3.- I like my calssmates thoughts, while we learn more, we have better ideas, go on teachers, we have a big responsability with our kids, english is needed all around the world, and we can give them the joyfull of learn it

Tuesday my own Methodology
The main goal of my method is how to use a foreign language to communicate.
1. No translation is allowed. The native language shouldn´t be used in classs, meaning is to be conveyed directly in the target language through the use of demonstration and visual aids, realia ( T. should demonstrate not explain or translate, SS should learn to think in the target language. Pronunciation should be worked from the beginning of the instruction .
2. One purpose is to be able to read Literature written in the target language. SS are taught to translate reading from target language to the native language by acquiring high cultural level. They are also given grammar rueles and they have to memorize them and to apply to different ex. If SS make mistakes, T. has to correct them.
3. Exclusive use of target language by having an oral-based approach by drilling SS in the use of grammatical sentence patterns and also applying principles from structural linguistics.
4. The way to acquire the sentence patterns of the target language is through conditioning, helping SS to respond correctly to stimuli through shaping and reinforcement and emphasizing on speaking and on question/answer type teaching ( stimulus-response ).
5. Vocabulary building is deferred until intermediate or advanced students by providing synonyms etc., and of course mastering idiomatical expressions and phrasal verbs through flash cards or drawings, and specially with advanced students T. look for students´ points of view in order to understand their styles of learning to respond to their needs and interests keeping in mind organization, elicitation, demonstration, and feedback.

In my opinion I think the first thing is to know the ages of your students and based on that you apply the technica to work with them because depend on the age or grade school in order to apply the methodology, because it changes its methodology, another reason is quietly, watching the students to e able to apply the methodology so that they can learn better.

INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.

1.- Teachers behave in a didactic manner, delivering information to students. (TRADITIONAL CLASSROOM)
2.- Teachers seek the students points of view in order to understand their styles of learning to respond to their learning needs and interest. (CONSTRUCTIVIST CLASSROOM)
3.- Introduces the idea of preseby stnting students with short grammar rules and word lists and the translation exercises in witch they have to use the same rules and words.(GRAMMAR TRANS LATION METHOD)
4.- Step by step progression of material, generally from easy to difficult.(GOUIN´S DIRECT METHOD)
5.- Step by step progression of material based on linguistic sequencing (from easy to complex ). Grammatical structures were presented in simple situations which exemplify their usages. (AUDIO -LINGUAL METHOD)

I agree with all because they have a lot of important information about methodology and I can´t choose only two

If I have to create a new methodology, the principles could be these:

1. (PPP) TEACHER EXPLAINS AND DEMONSTRATES THE MEANING AND FORM OF THE NEW LANGUAGE. because of the level I manage this is practical. It is learning based and takes little account of students´acquisition abilities.
2. (PPP) STUDENTS TALK MORE FREELY ABOUT THEMSELVES OR OTHER PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD. Students can talk about their interests in their age.
3. (Audio-Lingual method) STEP BY STEP PROGRESSION OF MATERIAL BASED ON LINGUISTIC SEQUENCING ( from easy to complex). GRAMMATICAL STRUCTURES WERE PRESENTED IN SIMPLE SITUATIONS WHICH EXEMPLIFY THEIR USAGE. This can be useful to start since something simple to something complex, always getting progress in their learning.
4. (TBL) STUDENTS PERFORM REAL LIFE TASKS AND MAKING A PRESENTATION ON CERTAIN TOPIC. These projects help us to know the interests, likes or dislikes of our students.
5. (TBL) AFTER THE TASK HAS BEEN COMPLETED, STUDENTS LOOK AT FOR ANY MISTAKES, CORRECT GRAMMAR OR STYLE. Students can give their opinions and help to their classmates to correct their mistakes.

In my opinion I´m agree with Marcela because it was difficult to choose for only 5 principles but we have to decide according of our students, thinking can be functional for them.
I´m agree with Keima first of all we have to know the kind of students we want to implement these principles.
