I think that all the theories are functional depends on the moment and the way that we apply.
1) The most important is that create a safe atmosphere. The job of the teacher of English is to create a safe and supportive environment, one in which the student will be comfortable experimenting with the language. That means that laughing at or putting down others can’t be tolerated in any way, shape, or form.
2) Don’t over-correct. Our first instinct as teachers is to correct student language errors. Over-correction, however, can make students reluctant to use the language. If afraid of being corrected every time they speak, students will simply stop speaking - and therefore learning - the language. Of course, there are appropriate times to correct language mistakes but first they need to be secure.
3) Put students in groups. If the teacher is constantly talking, learners will never get a chance to practice. Group work gives students an opportunity to practice the language.
4) Use non-verbal clues. Facial expressions, hand gestures, and other non-verbal clues are a great way to overcome the language barrier.
I take of Communicative Language Teaching activities involve of real life situations, role play and simulation. It focuses on language functions: asking, agreeing, inviting, criticizing, etc. This approach contends that if learners have enough exposure to the language and the opportunity to use it, than language learning becomes almost automatic and natural.
Task-based learning is advantageous to the student because it is more student-centered, allows for more meaningful communication, and often provides for practical extra-linguistic skill building. Although the teacher may present language in the pre-task, the students are ultimately free to use what grammar constructs and vocabulary they want. This allows them to use all the language they know and are learning, rather than just the 'target language' of the lesson. Furthermore, as the tasks are likely to be familiar to the students (eg: visiting the doctor), students are more likely to be engaged, which may further motivate them in their language learning.

in my own method I include the communicative language teaching. students should learn to perform language functions using a variety of language exponents . I include too PPP students talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world and the audio lingual method I include conversation, songs, and the TBL I added any topic in order students can develop their language usin grammar and vocabulary.

We all know that behind the teaching of a language there’s a methodology and a series of steps and techniques that support it, but not always consider the profile of the group or good environment. For that reason, l think that it will be a good idea to create a comfortable environment according to necessities of the students. If there is a positive atmosphere, they can feel motivated about learning.
Of course, we must keep the following points:
A. Establish rules since the beginning.
B. Combine all the theories, sometimes we must use a traditional method, sometimes the constructivist method and other multiple intelligences.
C. Teacher must be positive attitude.
D. If you get the attention of the students with different activities, you will have a good discipline.
E. The lessons should be dynamics and shorts.
F. Teach them the language in a way that they can use it in their daily life and in different contexts.

INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES. USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.
Grammar-Translation Method. This method not produce speakers of the language, but people could read a foreign language.
Audio- Lingual Method. Emphasis on speaking rather than translation. This method is useful for low level student.
Communicative Language Teaching. Students should learn to perform language functions using a variety of language exponents being aware of the need for appropriacy when talking and writing to people.
Presentation, Practice, Production. It is very learning-based and takes little account of students´acquisition abilities.
Task- Based Learning. Students perform real life tasks such as getting information about airplaine timetables or making a presentation on certain topic, and then they work on any mistake they have.
Theories.
Discovery learning believes that it is best for learners to discover facts and relationships for themselves, this way they may be more likely to remember concepts and knowledge. (Jerome Brunner)
Play is an important and necessary part of the student´s cognitive development. (Jean Piaget)
Young children develop their thinking abilities by interacting with other children, adults and the physical world. (Lev Seminovich Vygotsky)
People experience high points in life when the individual is in harmony with himself and his surroundings. (Abraham Maslow)
I'm also agree with Marissa about a safe atmosphere and supportive environment in order to create a confidence space for students.

I agree with Leonor about the games and the teamwork are very important for develope the kids' skills. I think that Marisa has reason when she said that all methods can serve in a given time, all depends of the students.

I work with kids from 5 to 6 years old, for that reason I think that in my own methodology may consider:

• Good environment for children
• Introduce the rule together with them for all year
• I have a lot of different material
• We need to prepare different songs for them. These songs according the topic I teach.
• The children will work in team and individual depend of the topic
• I have to do the Lesson Plan
• All the course we use the magazines, books, material

I think is very important I use the behaviorism, cognitive, humanist, constructivism and multiple intelligences.

Read at least two proposals from your classmates and give your opinion no later than Saturday.

I´m agree with Leonor is important that we use a more game and I´m agree with Marisa, the methods can serve in a given time, depends of the children.

The first thing that I would try to improve will be:
The topics.
Step 1 choose an interesting Topic where all the SS were interested
Step 2 Ellicit the information about the topic, in this case Ss will obtain different information from each other.
Step 3 T Show some pictures to predict
Step 4 Then SS can write some sentences about what they have predicted.
Step 5 Take in consideration type of grammar instructions according to the Topic
Step 6 Make open questions
Step 7 Give SS the Reading or Listening Activity according to what they have discussed.
Step 8 ASK SS to write the differences about what have they guessed and What have they read or listened.
Step 9 Give a writiing activity
Step 10 Close the activity with some conversation.
In this method I could involved TBL becasue in Step 2 SS and T give pre information about what they know and step 5 they can correct grammar style.
At the same time it an be Gouins because the use of the material is handled step by step from easy to difficult.

The theories are from Maslow in relation that every person has a strongly desires to realize their potential and Vygotsky said people develope thier thinking abilities by interacting.

In relation with Nelly and Celia I agree with the information because is interesting to create a good environment in the class and then Methods could be applied according to the SS necesities. The most important is to know our Ss and then we will see how learning happens and theories are well applied.

1. SS TALK MORE FREELY ABOUT THEMSELVES OR OTHER PEOPLE IN THE REAL WORLD. (PPP)
2. USE TARGET LANGUAGE NO TRANSLATION STEP BY STEP FROM EASY TO DIFFICULT MEANINFUL EXERSICE.
EARLY USE A WRITTING "NO TRANSLATING".
STUDENTS SELF CORRECTIONS. UNDERSTANDING THEIR ERRORS.
3. SS NEED FREQUENT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE ACTIVE , USE OF TARGET LANGUAGE IN COMMUNICATIVE SITUATION.
THEY MUST LEARN TO PRODUCE COMPREHENSIBLE OUTPUT.
4.MEMORIZE LISTS OF VOCABULARY ITEMS AND THEIR MEANINGS GRAMMAR TRANSTATION.
5 SS NEED LEARN TO PERFORM LANGUAGE ESPONENTS BEING AWARE OF THE NEED FOR APPROPRIACY WHEN TALKING AND WRITING TO PEOPLE.

WELL I HAVE TO LOOK FOR THE WAY TO CREATIVE STORIES OR ATRACTIVE GAMES IN ORDER GETTING SS ATTENTION .

I work with preschool kids from 5 to 6 YEARS OLD ,SOME OF THEM HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS .

i THING THAT IN MY OWN METHODOLOGY ,I considere:
Stlabilish the rules the first day of class
Create a good enviroment for kids and make adecuaciones to include all the Ss.because we have some Ss with special needs.
Material most be atrractive use realia when is possible.
Accordin to the topicand lesson plan desing the activities.
Create a need and desire to communicate in the foreing language.Ss work in teams or pairs and talk about the topic,introduce themselves etc.
Some times the activities depends on memorizing the grammatical structure ,stories,songs and rhymes are excellents tools for it.
Pre task involve the Ss in the topic.ask some questions based on the title and illustrations.(eg. Pre- reading activities)While-reading activities :point the words while reading,emphasize key words,pause the reading and ask questions about vocabulary.After reading Ss confirm predictions. Ask Ss their opinion about the story.
Is very important that the Ss experimentt and discover the answers.They need to analize and the T .is a guide and don´t gives the answers

I´m agree with Nelly and Susana the classes have varieties and some times use constructivism, others behaviorism and include multiple intelligences.

My own Methodology

1. The lesson should be prepared previously and should be appropriate for the students (e.g. age, abilities and cultural background). The format needs to be clear, with phases and timing for each exercise, and some specification of what material the teacher should prepared in advance, like the furniture. This can help the teacher to focus on the learning outcomes and don’t forget the aims or objectives.

2. English learning should focus on communication, so each lesson should start with new information in context and linked to known information (PPP). The language used in class should be only English, language could be simplified but not unnatural (Gouin’s direct method). Use routines but not in the same way everyday (if we are going to write the date everyday, start in different parts, or sing it, make students write it). Use repetitions and drills but make them meaning full (Audio-lingual method).

3. The students should interact and practice with each other as well as with the teacher, everyday should change their work group, so they can know everyone and create a friendlier atmosphere. The tasks would be emphasized in real situations and interesting for the students age and abilities (TBL), use the Internet because it is full of resources, reading materials, sound recordings, and so much more that can help to vary the activities used in class, and also to find extra material for students with special needs. Use the 4 skills in a lesson if it is possible.

4. Play games using language, make students move once in a while, this will help some students that are bodily-kinesthetic. Once in a while ask students point of view or their opinion about what they want to do next, this can motivate students. The teacher should be a helper or facilitator, and treat students as responsible beings don’t patronize them, use humor constructively.

5. Use the curiosity of the students, and encourage them to participate more, let students analyse for themselves in their own level, the language they are using to improve it and practice it (TBL). The teacher uses different techniques for elicitation and explanation.

6. In the classroom, paste posters and students own projects in English and also have English materials, like books and picture dictionaries, so students can get some exposure to language and have more opportunities to use it. (CLT)

I agree with Marissa about a safe atmosphere and supportive environment in order to create a confidence space for students. If the teacher plans the lessons and also manages to anticipate not only language but discipline problems too, that could help the teacher to avoid them, for example, create balanced teams in a game, or where to place an agressive kid.

I think Leonor is right when she says that PPP is based on learning and I also think it could be very useful teaching method in basic level groups.

Actually, I would like to create my own theory, based mainly on Constructivism Theory. Why? Because I consider that constructivism fits very well with the kids of this century.

I know that there are many things which we have to take into account. A well design environment is an excellent starting because it is an important part of our students learning, but not everything depends on how well we decorate our classroom, or the material that we have, all depends on how well as a teachers we use that material.

Constructivism tells us, ok, students can play, but it is absolutely important to give a meaning to those plays. Also constructivism tells us, ok, students can sing, but as a teacher we have the big responsibility of singing something really significant.

Kids of today want to be independents and understand how the world works and constructivism of course is one of the best options.

Finally, I would ask for some help to the CLT and TLB Methodologies because of the fact that I want my students to be independent people, so Communicative Language Teaching and Task Based Learning are giving me the tools for having my students talk in a functional way and furthermore in a more real way. As it is said in these methodologies, students perform real-life tasks, in addition to this, language involves also functions such as inviting, agreeing and disagreeing, suggesting, asking information, etc. So, they are not the typical unreal examples that only lay inside a book.

Mary, I totally agree with you. First of all we have to provide confidence to our students. Of course they have to experiment by their owns.

Making groups is absolutely an excellent way of having our students speaking and interacting with each other.
Finally, I took CLT and TBL too, as a guide to make students learn English.

1. The lesson should be prepared previously and should be appropriate for the students (e.g. age, abilities and cultural background). The format needs to be clear, with phases and timing for each exercise, and some specification of what material the teacher should prepared in advance, like the furniture. 2. English learning should focus on communication, so each lesson should start with new information in context and linked to known information (PPP). The language used in class should be only English, language could be simplified but not unnatural (Gouin’s direct method). Use routines but not in the same way everyday (if we are going to write the date everyday, start in different parts, or sing it, make students write it). Use repetitions and drills but make them meaning full (Audio-lingual method).

3. The students should interact and practice with each other as well as with the teacher, everyday should change their work group, so they can know everyone and create a friendlier atmosphere. The tasks would be emphasized in real situations and interesting for the students age and abilities (TBL), use the Internet because it is full of resources, reading materials, sound recordings, and so much more that can help to vary the activities used in class, and also to find extra material for students with special needs. Use the 4 skills in a lesson if it is possible.

4. Play games using language, make students move once in a while, this will help some students that are bodily-kinesthetic. Once in a while ask students point of view or their opinion about what they want to do next, this can motivate students. The teacher should be a helper or facilitator, and treat students as responsible beings don’t patronize them, use humor constructively.

5. Use the curiosity of the students, and encourage them to participate more, let students analyse for themselves in their own level, the language they are using to improve it and practice it (TBL). The teacher uses different techniques for elicitation and explanation.

6. In the classroom, paste posters and students own projects in English and also have English materials, like books and picture dictionaries, so students can get some exposure to language and have more opportunities to use it. (CLT)

I agree with Marissa about a safe atmosphere and supportive environment in order to create a confidence space for students. If the teacher plans the lessons and also manages to anticipate not only language but discipline problems too, that could help the teacher to avoid them, for example, create balanced teams in a game, or where to place an agressive kid.

I think Leonor is right when she says that PPP is based on learning and I also think it could be very useful teaching method in basic level groups.

Method: learning fun (for kids)
This method combines the most important ways to learn.
The warm up is a short presentation focus in new grammar, in a play mode per example
1.- T’ show flash cards verbs S’s mimic .
2.- T’ & S’s sing a song, and jump or crouch when listen the vocabulary.
3.- Play memory cards on the floor using big flash cards. etc
Introduction
The Grammar is in a short history by audio or by movie , it includes new vocabulary.
S’s answer questions about the history focus on grammar.
The grammar is including in a reading the kids work in pares to find the vocabulary they learn and the vocabulary they don’t know then Ss make a role play.
S´s try to describe the reading (they can see the pictures about).
Develop & Practicing
S’s in touch with English.
S’s practice in some drills (mechanical, communicative and meaningful)
Ending a class with a project it could be… a letter ,invitation, mail, song ,history….it depends the grammar and the topic for the class…this work have to make by each S’s for T’ be sure the S’s caught the lesson.
I prefer work in a contructivism way, I think it is better for kids....

IF YOU WERE ASKED TO CREATE A NEW METHODOLOGY FOR ENGLISH TEACHING, WHAT COULD BE SOME OF ITS PRINCIPLES?
Well, I’d have to think in all the necessities of my Ss, in the characteristics, in their interests and to build up them the knowledge gradually, so they use it automatically in a real situation.
• First prepare a lesson plan according with my Ss characteristics
• Include games and songs in my daily practice.
• Use different materials like: visuals, puppets, materials to listen, etc
• Make sure my Ss practice a lot, experiment, solve problems, ask and investigate.
• Create a good atmosphere kind, climate and lovely and kind.
• Invite Ss to interact each other, work in pairs, work in teams and share information.
Teachers are an important part of this new methodology that’s why:
• Teachers have to be friendly, patient, lovely, kind, but firm and fair, inspire respect not fear.
• Ss could trust to him/her. I mean Ss feel confident
• Encourage the importance to learn, to have good behavior and to work in class.
• Speak English all the time

INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES. USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.

1.Play is an important and necessary for students (Jean Piaget)
2.Social interaction, Ss use the previous knowledge (Vigotsky)
3.Ss learn by exploring, manipulating objects, experiments, discover, solving problems (Jerome Brunner)
4.Beeing according with the multiple intelligences of every child. (Howard Gardner)
5.The learner responds to stimulus

My own teaching technic is to have emphaty with my students, this is very important for learning.

In my classes I include warm up activities, learning outcomes, where the students can use visual cues to follow a story and the material that we are going to use.

Group work, review the vocabulary. Use a TPR activity or a Flash card game, or a vocabulary race.

I use Audio Scripts about listening and follow the story

A Task for doing at home with their parents.

At end I do a close up activity.

I'm agree with you kids get boring if the activities are by heart, kids need the best way that kids learn is when the knowledge is meaningful

I think that each methodology is good, it depends of the well handle teacher has with it. The performance is a very important characteristic in teachers, they can have a gorgeous material but if they don´t know how to use it, is not going to work.
After have a well handle of methodologies we can taking in to account some mains points:
• Make them feel confidence.
• Create a good and a comfortable environment.
• Variety and communicative activities.
• Establish limits.
• Have a good material.
• Teach them the language in a meaningful way.
• Ask students for some activities they would like to make.
• Have a good planning.

INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES. USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING
For children is very important learning by games, song, etc.
If they socialize, they develop their thinking abilities.
We, as human beings, learn with our own experiences.
We, as human beings, also learn for stimulation.
Using multiple intelligences can also learn in many kinds of situation.

I agree with Vero we need to use realia is the best to communicate in real life and I disagree with Eric because memorize vocabulary can make children to hate English.

MOTIVATION : Students learn better when teacher motive and encourage to their language learning

LEARNING ENVIRONMENT can develop positive learning by making the classroom itself an environment which
students experiment success

AUTHENTIC LANGUAGE , is used in a real context , reproduce the conditions in which the language is acquired.

INTERACTION with classmates to complete a task or project show and share knowledge, according with Vykosky considers what the language learning is product of classroom interaction and promotes cognitive skills

As teacher must be to consider finding the best method with their own experiences, beliefs, assumptions and fundamental points of view about teaching and learning. And also consider what we are trying to achieve and its appropriate for our students . According with my classmates wherever method that must facilitate and promote the process of the language
