If you were asked to create a new methodology for English Teaching, what could be some of its principles?
THIS IS ALEJANDRA ALFARO ALONZO SATURDAY COURSE.
INCLUDE AT LEAST 5 PRINCIPLES USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.
Well I think the 5 principles could be:
1.-Exploit the innate curiosity and motivate students with interesting, and exciting materials .
2.-Be aware of their ages and abilities.
3.- Encourage students to work in a free way and to develop their language.
4.- Engage Ss in what they are doing and let them to communicate.
5.- Remember to match Pre-task with the task cycle.
MY OWN METHOD "ALEJANDRA´S METHOD"
Choosing the best parts of each method.
-To create a good environment to make my students feel safe, confident, motivated, and engage them in the task since the beginning until the end.
-Provide a variety of activities to prevent indiscipline, to keep them busy, to make pair work, grouping, tríos,play roll, etc. and as they have different abilities every one will have the chance to feel comfortable with the task.Remember to plan your project.
-Students perform real life tasks based on competences, using their prior knowledge and perform their projects.
-Organize meaninful exercises in order to use target language and develop their 4 skills.
-Teacher must play some of his/her roles: be friendly, facilitator, guider, emphatic, be interested in Ss needs and make them feel they can learn the language, take care of their filter, remember if they don´t feel well there won´t be any learning.

Priciples of my own method of learning
IF YOU WERE ASKED TO CREATE A NEW METHODOLOGY FOR ENGLISH TEACHING, WHAT COULD BE SOME OF ITS PRINCIPLES?

I think I could use many principles, but the most important for me are these:
1.- To know the students´ age, needs, interest and aptitudes.
2.- Prepare a Lesson Plan according to the first principle.
3.- Use attractive and meaningful material from internet, the students have to see that we have in touch with the tool that they love: “internet”. Use technology.
4.- Create a good environment, where the students feel comfortable. They can work in the classroom or outside.
5.- The teachers have to look confidence, and nice.
6.- Check what is the best moment to give a grammar explanation because is very difficult keep the students´ attention for a long time, and the remaining time the students have to practice the topic.
7.- The teacher doesn´t have to limit the ideas, the teacher has to organize activities which the student has to exploit all their knowledge.
8.- It´s important don´t force them, don´t interrupt them and don´t assess them while they are working. They have to be free.
Without to forget the theories of learning:9.- Use games; play is important and necessary. (Jean Piaget)
10.- The children develop their activities by interacting with other children. (Vygotshy)
11.- Identify children´s intelligences. (Howard Gardener)
12.- Previous knowledge is important. (David Ausubel)
I´m agree with Beatriz Diaz, according that: 6.The role of teachers should be mediator, moderated, coordinator. And the teacher is the leader in the group, the teachers have to be able to solve the problem in his o her group.
And I´m agree with Jessica too in every one of her principles, it’s important have a good relationship with the students and establish the rules since the beginning, and everybody have to agree.

MY OWN TECHNIQUE METHOD
In my method S can use games, roll-plays, communicative drills, listening drills, mime and visual and internet media
The exercise has to be useful and meaningful for the student, and teacher had to motive to her students and has the perfect attitude
This method emphasis speaking and communication whit others classmates
Probably steps
1. Students is exposed to TOPIC
2. Teacher explains some phrases that can use to communicate. It´s better if teacher doesn´t explain the grammar rules but if it is necessary you have to do it
3. Students practice it by games, roll-plays, communicative drills, listening drills, mime and visual and internet media whit the sole purpose of produce the new language. In this step teacher can interrupt for helping with the structures or the way that students transmit their ideas
4. Teacher has to clarify what words had been seeing during the class and students had to memorize
5. Students produce language solving one problem, but this problem is focusing on the topic and the grammar that was seen for homework

COMMENTS FOR ALEJANDRA'S METHOD
I'M AGREE WITH YOU IN MOST OF THE POINTS THAT YOU SELECT: THE ENVIRONMENT, ACTIVITIES, COMPETENCES FOR LIFE AND THE DEVELOP OF THE FOUR SKILLS.
AS A TEACHER WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP OUR JOB IN DIFFERENT WAYS, DEPENDING OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OR THE BACKGROUND WHEN WE WILL WORK AND ALWAYS WE TRY TO DO OUR BEST.
SEE YOU LATER AND LET'S KEEP WORKING!!!

YOU SAY TO USE ATTRACTIVE AND MEANINGFUL MATERIAL FROM INTERNET, BUT NOT AT ALL, ITS DEPEND ON THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE STUDENTS LIKE THEIR AGE OR THEIR ENVIRONMENT. SOME STUDENTS LOVE THE TECHNOLOGY AS YOU SAY BUT IF YOU ARE IN A CONTEXT WHEN THEY DON'T HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY, THEY WILL FEEL BETTER WITH ANOTHER KINDS OF MATERIAL. BY THE WAY, I'M AGREE WITH YOU IN THE POINT 8. WE MUST BE MEDIATOR, MODERATE, TUTOR, FRIEND AND BE IN TOUCH WITH THE STUDENTS BUT DON'T FORCE THEM TO DO THEIR ACTIVITIES. THEY HAVE TO FEEL FREE, EXACTLY!!

MY PRINCIPLES TO TEACH ENGLISH
This are my principles to teach English. I think that the acquisition to new language is the motivation. motivate the students is important and is the first step doesn`t matter if they had had some experience with the language or not.
A) Create a good atrmosphere or enviroment is important for start to know to the students and their feelings, needs, ages, and know the enviroment where they are growing.
B)Make a evaluation about the knowledge that the students have (don`t make an exam just evaluate with little phrases and exercises in class)
C)When you create you lesson plan make a warm up using the differents kind of intelligences.
D)Make emphasis on speaking skill. for this you use the mechanical drills to the students get confidence on the speking.
E)Don`t use grammar rules explanation, just examples (base in real life).F)Use attractive materials, (flash cards,work-color sheets, music, movies).
G)Catch with short activities the students` attention.

TT2 MY NEW METHODOLOGY MONDAY,WEDNESDAY,FRIDAY
If you were asked to create a new methodology for English Teaching, what could be some of its principles?
1. Students must be motivated to learn a new language
2. Present the context and explains the meaning and form of the new language.
3. Students practice making their sentences and using the new item
4. Exposes Students to different activities and real situations, where they can use the language in a context.
5. Mistakes are not directly correct by the teacher. Students correct their mistakes by themselves through listening conversations and their other classmates and the teacher.

INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES. USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.
READ AT LEAST TWO PROPOSALS FROM YOUR CLASSMATES AND GIVE YOUR OPINION NO LATER THAN SATURDAY.
Hi, finally I was able to log in
My own methodology would include some of behaviorism and mostly constructivism because of its principles.
The students work in groups, they are considered active thinkers while teacher must behave in an interactive manner. The curriculum is presented as a whole, and real life is a whole. The evaluation, the most difficult matter, occurs through observing students and getting evidences through exhibitions and portfolios.
1. PPP
The communication is more freely, it includes drillings and it covers the three stages in a planned class.
2. TBL
TBL enphasizes task and students are able to use real life tasks which are useful in their daily life and the
communicative activities are the main point in teaching languages.
3.CLT
CLT is about language and how it is used. So students learn to perform language functions and appropiarcy of talking and writing. If students are exposed to language and we make them feel confortable then language will be learn easily. This method use exclusively the target language, emphasizes communication and real language is use.
4.Audio - Lingual
Because of the use of the target language. Drills are used and it emphasizes on speaking.
5. Direct method
It implies the use of meaningful exercises and meaningful use of language.
Teaching languages´s goal is communication so all this methods and principles have as a goal the acquisition of the four basic skills which will lead to the learner to communication.

Hi Rigoberto,
I agree with you. You punctualized very clear the main points. However, I think that the use of the target language is the goal so if you permit translations the learners will get to use it. About the activities you are very right these must be short and attractive.

Regarding grammar I would like to make it implicit not explicit and as Rigoberto said about materials. They must be adequate and adequated to your class, children love internet but they love drawings too.

"Creating a new methodology for English Teaching" by Claudia Y. Serrano Alejandri
Along the course we learned the importance of knowing different theories and methodologies to create an environment to learning for students. If had the opportunity to create a new approach I would take some cognitivists and constructivist principles for this, in addition to some English language teaching methods such as CLT and TBL. This way I would take into account the following:
a) Use of appropriate games according to age and activities analyzing kid’s attitudes in order to understand them and know their interests and habits. Besides these games could influence the child’s development positively, for example: through game, values such as respect, tolerance, solidarity and cooperation could be promoted.
b) Students would be exposed to language in a real way. I mean they would choose cartoons and movies in English to watch. They would read and exchanged stories, they’d invent and perform little plays. Or maybe we could design with other teachers from other schools nationally and internationally a conversation group for children by internet.
c) Give tasks to students in order to provide them with opportunities to share their personal insights and lives. For example: they could solve a problem so it could give them the chance to develop an interaction. They could work by groups or pairs then they could compare their work with another group or Ss.
d) Ss could discover the language. They could bring and share some material that they would like to learn or it would be important to know and it could be appropriate for everybody.
e) We would focus on communication rather than translation. So Ss would be able to speak English in a comfortable, happy and funny way according to the last principles displayed.
Have a nice weekend!!! Love, Claus.

Comments for Susan's method
I agree with you to recognize that TBL provides the possibility for students to learn from their own contexts. Also I think this methodology requires a change in the traditional teacher’s role because he or she does not introduce and present language or interfere during the task given I mean the teacher is an observer during it. Besides if we chose this method we would be able to know our students by listening their personal experiencies.
I also found that CLT considers the method as an important element in creating your new proposal which I think is important because you also agree that we should view communication as an important part for students to learn English.
Have a nice weekend!!" Regards, Claudia.

Comments for Juana Paola's method.
I agree with you when you mention that Ss need to be exposed to different activities and real situations because if we visualize the learning of English as a way for students to be able to communicate, We would make them discover it too through different methods. Moreover Ss would realize that it is possible and they would be more motivated by wanting to talk according to their own needs.
Have a nice weekend!!! regards, Claudia.

My own teaching method
I think that the best method is one that were the most useful for me according to my own necessities with my students. What is certain is that I would consider the multiple intelligences theory. Furthermore my method would be based in a holistic teaching-learning process.
PRINCIPLES:
1. Teachers seek the students' points of view in order to understand their styles of learning to respond to their learning needs and interests.
2. Step by step progression of material, generally from easy to difficult.
3. Students self correction of errors (mistakes). Students need to understand their errors.
4. Structures and rules are learned by example, demonstration not formulation, analogy rather than analysis.
5. Emphasis on speaking and communication.
6. Students talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world (production stage).
7. Students perform real life tasks such as getting information about airplane timetables or making a presentation on certain topic.
PRINCIPLES:

NohemiHeCo escribió:IF YOU WERE ASKED TO CREATE A NEW METHODOLOGY FOR ENGLISH TEACHING, WHAT COULD BE SOME OF ITS PRINCIPLES?
INCLUDE AT LEAST FIVE PRINCIPLES. USE THE INFORMATION OF THE METHODS YOU HAVE STUDIED AND DON´T FORGET THE THEORIES OF LEARNING.
Hi, this is Alicia Sandi. Let me tell you that I totally agree with you. It is very important to know the age, interests, needs and aptitud of our students. You are right 'technololgy' is the new method to teach and as teachers we have to be ready at the latest technology.

"My Creative Method"
1. Memorize lists of vocabulary items and their meanings.
2. Structures and rules are learned by example, demostration not formulation.
3. Step by step progression of material based on linguistic sequency.
4. Use of mechanical drilling to teach production and discrimination.
5. Emphasis on speaking.
6. Students self correction of errors.
7. Write sentences in the target language, using the previous rules and vocabulary.
8. Students talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world.
Hi, this is Alicia Sandi. I think your principles are good according what you want to teach or work on, but I would like to ask you something, so what do you want that your Ss to memorize 'lists and meanings' if they are not significant for Ss? May be if Ss have a meaningful topic for them the lists could be significat for them, well that is what I think, respectfully.

TT2 TUESDAY MY OWN TEACHING METHOD
1. plan the lesson according to my students characteristics such as age, background, etc
2.- create a good atmosphere where all my students feel free to express themselves
3.- include songs and drills so they can memorize vocabulary and improve their pronuntation
4..- set the example of the excersice, students practise and after they present their project (ppp)
5.- prepare games for review

i think that your method is very effective because the students interact, they feel involved and they develop interest in learning more and more

My own method
- Well, I think that before applying or creating a method, we have to take into consideration the age, aims and previous knowledge, of the language to teach, as well as, of the knowledge in general possessed by the learner. Always having in mind that a combination of methodologies is better than using only a particular one, because in most of the cases there are too general and using only one will leave gaps in the students understanding.
Almost exclusive use of the target language: always encouraging students to avoid making translations. The reason for this is that thinking is speaking with ourselves and if we get used to translate everything we will become slow thinkers.
And unnatural speakers.
Emphasis on speaking: leaving the written study for a more advance phase. Also emphasizing the speaking skills of the learner will give him a more intuitive use of the structures and rules of the target language. And in a second stage they can learn grammar in a more natural fashion than those students who start learning grammar without having getting in touch with the language to learn. This is more efficient because learning about a language prevents from communicating effectively with it.
Team work: this will let the learners develop their thinking abilities by interacting and they will be evaluating their mates at the same time that they are being evaluated by them
Drilling while playing (or drills disguised of games): is a useful technique to learn almost anything for students of every age.
As the learning process is, in first place, responsibility of the student; for a better and faster learning to take place there is advisable that the student finds the way to get enough exposure to the language (tv shows, movies, comics, books; etc.). This is, nowadays, easy because of the Internet, as one can view, hear or read, meaningful information for each one without spending too much money or time in it.

MY OWN TEACHING METHOD
My activities and specific objectives must help me reach the main aim.
My topic must have a relevant content for my student´s level, needs, and interests.
I must use a variety of activities.
I must find appropiate links between a topic, tasks, and materials.
I must monitor my studens progress.
ENJOY YOUR DAY A LOT!!! Mary

MY OWN METHOD TT2
My own method tt2
1. - Read and translate into the student´s native language (GTM).
2. - Step by step progression of material, generally from easy to difficult (DM).
3. - Step by step progression of material based on linguistic sequencing (from easy to complex). Grammatical structures were presented in simple situations which exemplify their usage (ALM).
4. - Students practice making different sentences using the new item, may involve drilling (controlled practice) (PPP).
5. - Students talk more freely about themselves or other people in the real world (production stage) (PPP).
6. - if students get enough exposure to language and have many opportunities for language use, and if they are motivated, then language learning will take care of itself (CLT ).
7. - Humanized classroom (CLT).
8. - students perform real life tasks such as getting information about airplane timetables or making a presentation on certain topic (TBL).
9. - Language focus: students analyze the language they used making improvements and practicing the language that needs repair or development (TBL).
All of this methods give me some bases to form my own method I think with this combination we can change many errors into the classroom and the use of task cycle the student understand better the topic because they need to use their imagination and give a report about the things that they learn, with the analysis and the practice students can keep in their mine the new knowledge because they see the use of the words, phrases, etc. The designing tasks to promote language use give us an excellent form to explain the topic in an easy way.
MARIA I AGREE WITH YOU BECAUSE IN MOST OF THE CASESE WE ONLY USE ONE OR TWO ACTIVITIES FOR THE STUDENTS BUT THEY NEED MORE THINGS TO DO.
ELI I THINK YOUR METHOD IS VERY INTERESTING BECAUSE YOU MENSION SO DIFFERENT THINGS THAT THE KIDS NEED TO DO IN ORTHER TO LEARN SO FAST AN OTHER LENGUAGE.
