How do you deal with errors?
It is important to correct errors but not emphasazing so much when we're doing a conversation.
For example if the Ss doesn't pronounce the S for 3rd person Teacher repeats the sentence correctly
giving now emphasis to the verb + s.
And for spelling mistakes only practice mekes better. With games on the board or different exercises.
It depends on the king of mistakes or error the king of exercises we will have to apply to avoid them. Also the topic I guess...
If we are always correcting and correcting our students, how are they going to speak English!!

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
1) Yes, my ss made many mistakes about their pronunciation for example when we saw the zoo animals in especial lion they pronounce bad. But I improve with a game and nowadays they can pronounce it.
2) Sometimes with practice. I do not tell anything when they make a mistake jus I take note and then I improve with some activities mentioned the mistakes.
3) First they have to listen a song many times and ask them now how you pronounce lion.

How to deal with SS' errors
- I let Ss make mistakes specially when speaking practices, then analyze what kind of error they did.
- One of the most common are the use of "is , are".
- I correct them showing them 1 item and emphasize it the use for singular and 2 or more items for plurals after we make an oral practice

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
IN MY PARTICULAR POINT OF VIEW, THE CORRECTIONS THAT I WILL DO MY STUDENTS ARE DEPENDING ON YOUR AGE AND YOUR CHARACTER, FOR EXAMPLE, THE CHILDREN OF FIRST AND SECOND GRADE ALMOST TIME THEY MAKE THE MISTAKE I CORRECT THEM, I REPEAT THE WORDS CORRECTLY AND ASK HIM TO REPEAT IT, BUT IF THE CHILD IS VERY IMPATIENT AND DO NOT AGREE, I WRITE ON THE BOARD AND PRONOUNCE THE WORDS IN GENERAL, FOR THE ENTIRE GROUP. ANOTHER SIDE TO THE CHILDREN OF THIRD AND FOURTH I TRY THEY EXPRESS THEM AND THE LAST I CORRECT THEM, AND I HAVE SOME VERY DETAILED STUDENTS AND ASK ME TO THE CORRECT AT THE TIME THEY ARE WRONG. BUT OVERALL I FIRST CORRECT IN GENERAL TERMS, THEN I LEFT THEM TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES FREELY AND FINALLY DEPENDS ON THEY CHARACTER IN A PARTICULAR WAY I CORRECT THEM ONE BY ONE.

How do you deal with errors?
Is important to know the definition according Julian Edge for the kind of mistakes Understand and as well do better error handling:
SLIPS, ERRORS and ATTEMPTS.
If we return with Piaget - Play is important to learn-
Playing, you can correct mistakes without making students feel bad.
It asks students to repeat words and as well they themselves can realize their mistakes through practice.
Another important aspect for the teacher to prepare more for who can teach best, if you have mistakes, as it is unthinkable that the student has the also the mistakes.
We are human beings!

How do I deal with mistakes?
Well mistakes like mention in the reqading is part of the process od adquire a new language and If you don't know how to handle you can make your students afraid to speak or write and in consequence they never will speak English.
1. I let them to make mistakes but I try to make them to participate on the board and I ask to the rest of the group is correct or incorrect and they help each other.
2. I take notes and when they finished their participation I mention you should pronounce this word of this way it doesn't matter how they pronounce they need to gain confidence to speak and later you can correct.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
WELL I HAVE STARTED TO TRUST IN SS HABILITIES AND NOW I LET SS PRACTICE, READ, SPEAK WITHOUT STOP THEIR INTERVENTIONS. AFTER THEY HAVE SPOKEN I TELL SS ABOUT THE ERROR AND I CORRECT THE PRONUNCIATION BUT WITHOUT MENTION THE SS´ NAMES OR WITHOUT LET THEM TO FEEL BAD WITH COMMENTS LIKE: "YOU ARE WRONG".
I AGREE WITH MY CLASSMATES RELATED WITH LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IS A PROCESS WITH MISTAKES, SS MAKES MISTAKES AND ERRORS LIKE WHEN WE WERE CHILDREN AND WE STARTED TO SPEAK SPANISH. WE NEED TO BE PACIENT AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE SS´PROCESS AND PROGRESS.

How do you deal with your students errors?
Well in my case if they are making exercises (writing) I like to do two different things:
1. I check their jobs but having them standing by my side so they can see when I´m checking and when I find an error I can ask the student about it always showing them previous exercises or the examples they have on the notebook or book and so the student can realize about the error and go and correct it.
2. I like having them checking each other books, so we write the answers on the board and then I can hear them saying oh no you are wrong because of.... I think they can remember the corrections in this way.
And when they are speaking I like to tell them sometimes in the moment and sometimes later, because I think you have to correct some errors in the same moment, but I think the most important thing here is the way you correct them because even if you do it in the very moment but you do it in a friendly, patient and maybe sweet way they still feel safe to keep speaking and trying to communicate in this different language. I really think that the attitude when you do this is really important.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR SUTDENT'S ERRORS?
Hi, I'm Susana Garcia,
The way I deal with my student's errors depends on what we are dealing with. If they are listening and they commit any mistake I ask them to close their eyes and listen carefully so they will be able to appreciate the right sounds and then we repeat or sing the word, even more sometimes I use tbr to explain the word. While writting, I correct them after they finish the exercise we play hangman and the whole group can see where the error was. Always trying to make them feel confortable even if they commit a mistake. That's why children are in school: for learning. All must be a game; therefore, they can feel free to talk. If they are shy I encourage them to do the task, we are just playing. Language learning involves error and interlanguage so language must be interesting for students and the level must be in accordance with their age.
Regards, lovely weekend

How to deal with students errors?
I think that through the error of one of the students, I, as a teacher can ask to the others if there is any mistake in that answer, so, that allows them to think and analyze about it.
Furthermore, we can reinforce certain values like tolerance and respect. Sometimes, teachers take some bad attitudes when students make a mistake and not only them, but also students because in some cases students mock about the errors made by others. This situation sometimes causes that students loose interest in try to speak the language.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS
When my students are practicing oral drills, I monitor and correct them. When my students try to say something like a comment during class, I try not to correct them in order to give them confidence. When they are having role play, I don´t correct them, because they can lose the conversation that they are trying to repeat. But when they are reading, I always correct them, so they can listen the way to pronounce, and also they can understand what they are reading. Listening helps students a lot to pronounce well, because they are repeating and doing the same intonation. I hope I am right Patrica Rivera Cambas.

Do you think you should correct every single mistake your ss make?
Repeat and rephrase. Teachers of English as a second language need to repeat everything at least three times. They should also vary the wording of their remarks. A student may know one set of vocabulary but not another - even when the topic of discussion is the same. Even if the student does understand a concept upon first explanation, he/she will still benefit from the repetition and variation of language. It will expose him/her to new words and phrases.
Don't over-correct. Our first instinct as teachers of English as a second language is to correct student language errors. Over-correction, however, can make students reluctant to use the language. If afraid of being corrected every time they speak, students will simply stop speaking - and therefore learning - the language. Of course, there are appropriate times to correct language mistakes. If a concept - for example the past tense - has been discussed at length in class, it is appropriate to correct students when they form the past tense improperly.
Create a safe atmosphere. Learning English as a second language is not an easy thing emotionally. Students will feel self-conscious about their lack of English ability and will thus be reluctant to use the language. The job of the teacher of English as a second language is to create a safe and supportive environment, one in which the student will be comfortable experimenting with the language. That means that laughing at or putting down others can not be tolerated in any way, shape, or form.
The same children when they realize they said a prayer or an evil word is corrected themselves, including their peers are also fixed between them.
That gives a lot of confidence because they realize that if they have learned and can get to correct their classmates, always showing respect is most important not to feel attacked for failing.
I agree with my colleagues that it is a learning process in which they must make mistakes, and learn to speak Spanish, learn English in a more natural without feeling pressured to answer properly without errors.

Re: TT3 Monday. How do you deal with your students´ errors?
In my opinion errors are necessary during the process of language learning.
When Ss made an error you can use selfcorrection for example If the S is practicing Simple Present Tense and says
Pedro go to work everyday you can emphasize with the error , in this case asking GO???? and the S will correct himself GOES . I think is a better way to correct them.
When the SS are practicing speaking is very important to leave them communicate in a freerly way so they can feel confident during the task. At the end you can make some observations of their mistakes but avoid correcting SS during the fluency activities.
Teachers have to provide SS a correct use of the language because the main objective is to guide and improve their learning.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
I think at the beginning it is a little difficult for the students to learn a new language over all adolescents, but I have been trying to let them know that this language isn`t too difficult so if they have mistakes don't be feel bad because when the people who comes from another country they speak Spanish and they don't mind if they do it well or not they only do it. so may be they are going to have many mistakes but practicing and paying attention they will do it correctly and day by day they will do it better. Of course, it is important they want to do it.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR Ss ERRORS?
Hello
Well one example is in the reading activity; first the students listen a story then they read part by part to the story and they need listen again and they tray to identify their own mistakes and correct by themselves. when the students listen by second or third time the story they do their best and develop the skill that they consider more important.
I think that we need to identify what is the competenc that we want to incrase or develop

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
Do you think you should correct every single mistake your ss make?
Why? What is the best way to correct your ss mistakes and errors?
It is not necessary. We are human beings and as a process of our life, they are a natural part of learning in any area of knowledge and they show how they are learning and how their internal mental process is working on. However, as teachers is part of our job as a guide is important to correct errors but not emphasizing so much when they are doing something, it depends on the king of mistakes, or what kind of exercises.
We will have to apply to avoid them. The practice makes better when we repeat several times each word or phrase in order to give them confidence, with this we can reinforce certain values like tolerance and respect and some mistakes are depending on your age, grade, and how much interest they have in the activity allows them to think and analyze about it.
We also should be varying the wording of their remarks. Do not over-correct. This can make students reluctant to use the language. If afraid of been corrected every time they speak, students will simply stop speaking the language in addition to learn.

Another way is when they help each other or the whole group participates in the revision of something, but the more important is to find the appropriate time according to the activity-taking place and this give us the daily practice.

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
In my case, I help them in all the ways when they have a particular mistake, for example: If students have a writing mistake,I point the mistake in order students better understand why do they have a mistake? and say them it isn´t correct please be careful and pay attention, If they have an oral mistake, I emphasis my attention in checking the pronuntiation at the time students repeat after me the words with a correct pronunciation and intonation, that so I always be very attentive in childrens errors because is too important to correct them if you don´t correct them in the right moment they wil continuous making a mistakes, all the time maybe all their lifes.

HOW DO I DEAL WITH MY SS ERRORS
PROBABLY I DO NOT HAVE MUCH PATIENCE, BUT WHAT I DO IS TRY TO IN SOME CASES OF PRONUCIACION CORRECT AT THE TIME. WHEN ARE SITUATIONS OF VOCABULARY I ALWAYS ASK IF THEY ARE SURE ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE SAYING.
WHEN ARE ERRORS IN THE NOTEBOOK I UNDERLINE OR CIRCLE AROUND AN ERROR FOR CORRECTION UNTIL THEY ARE CORRECT.

[quote="CIBF"]Do you think you should correct every single mistake your ss make?
Why?No, because sts will feel shame. It could be at the end of the activity. I tell them a couple of things and I correct the mistakes. They will make common mistakes but with the practice sts will improve it. .

It has to be in the same class Let sts finish the activity, the pronuntation etc and I like to show sts that English is easy .We sometimes have mistakes, but It doesn't matter,we try it again and ,it will be easy.I explain the question to the class again, It will help sts to understand better.
If sts are answering some exercise in their notebooks and I see something wrong in this moment I tell them, It depends of the situation

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH YOUR STUDENTS ERRORS?
When a student make a written mistake I correct the ortography and underline or circle the wrong word. When it is an oral mistake I correct the pronuntiation and make some group repetitions in order all students can get the right pronuntiation. When students invent words which doesn´t exist in English I say the correct word and give some examples.

Do you think you should correct every single mistake your ss make?
Why?
What is the best way to correct your ss mistakes and errors?
I think too much correction impedes student's learning because sometimes teacher may destroy the purpose of the activities. Impede not only the fluency of the student in question, but also negatively affect the flow of the class.
I think the effectiveness of any form of correction depends on the way you teach, if the relationship student/teacher is good, as well as how confident, shy or competitive students are. It depens on the student's level and also we need to think about individual students. If students are having a high conversation, I think correction in a sensitive manner may be more important than at a lower leve. Fluency is more important in this case. Nobody is perfect so teacher motivates students to continue, explaning that errors are part of learning.
