[Mary I.]WHY SHOULD MEXICAN KIDS LEARN ENGLISH?
I agree with other classmates we are in a globalized world, to get better opportunities, to get a good future Also I would say we are neighbors of a first power country,and the internet where the English is more used. I think there are more than these, learning and teaching other language we are assuring the cultural coexistence, interchange and knowledge over other cultures. And the most important side is the neurological-cognitive advantage it has, and the results it will give later in the skill's development.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?
First, I think is to change their mind, they neeed to have a flexible mindsets to succeed in the learning English because they belive that they are not able to speak it. Then to involve the family, if some of them (parents) do not put attention or interest in Spanish at all, then in English it's hard.

I share Edna's opinion about parentes want a better life style for their children, but I don't think it is more important than other things in order to get a better future.

I don't agree with Maria Maricela where she says that parents get jealous because their children are learning a new language (or new things), I belive that most of them are very proud of their kids' learning.

Well as a matter of fact, Kids learn English because they have to, because the language is given as a part of their curricular subjects more than any pleasure they feel. Besides that, relatives or parents wish kids learn English with miscellaneous reasons, for example, because they are going to travel to a country where they talk Englisssh just fur fun or for the importance they think English has. They are quite a few kids that like English and just for that they are learning English.
Perhaps another reason for learning English is because they have a relative or even a father living in the United States or any other English speaking country. Most of my students learn English for the last reason. I think they know how important is to speak nor only in English for learning but for communicate their ideas or thoughts with someone else.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE TEACHING THEM?

I think the major difficult I ever had is the ATTITUDE they demonstrate at the begining of the course, when they didn´t understand many things and at the end they really wanted to continue while they were motivated as "Adan Castillejos" mentioned and diveloped the objectives showing them that the most important thing is trying to change their minds in order to give them goals as Lucy wrote which I´m totally agree with because I think they are extremelly important.
The other problem that I think to face with is the social environment as Marcos Juarez said.
Besides the native language because it can couse us interference with the second language acquisition.

Why should Mexican kids learn english?
Because they need to learn a second language and now a days English is the global language so the importance in their lifes maybe in the pree-school and elementary is to be familiar with the language and know a little bit about this culture and costums they have.

The teacher´s group; some of them think that teach English is exactly the same that they did. and most of the time interrups my class giving me their ideas and trying to change my activities but I continuo then I listen their opinions and If I consider their opinions are fine I taken them, because I know they want the best for the children just like me.

WHY SHOULD MEXICAN KIDS LEARNS ENGLISH?

Mexican kids need to learn english to have a tool which allows them to understand the things they are interested on. Nowadays we live in a global world there the borders have dissapeared and its necessary that at least children are able to understand english to read their games and computer instruction. I think as fas as children realize that it is not so hard to learn english they´ll become more interested in the language.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?

The first and the main problem I´ve faced is discipline. In my first grade class there are three or four ss´ who bother and strick the rest of the group and some times I've been unable to give my class. It´s important to mention that one of these boys is already in therapy but he continues with his bad attitude. There is a discipline problem with my sixth grade students too, some students of 6th "B" have a very bad attitude and always create problems, they don´t work and it seems they are interested on nothing. Tahy have the same indiscipline with their spanish teacher.
The second peoblem I´ve faced is the parents lack of interest, as they thing to lern english will be useless for their children.

I think it is important to learn English to give students the opportunity to step inside other culture. Also as globalization and communications brought the world closer and English is the most spoken language not only in the country but all over the world, English language plays an important role in all aspects of society, and therefore learning it, would greatly give advantage to our students.

The main obstacles…Social environment, lack of motivation but not only for the subject, I mean in general, in the school, in their life.

I agree with Lucy and Edna, we should give this generation a goal, something they can use as a tool to have a better life, it is really difficult to motivate students to follow a different model, usually you want to be like your father or mother, and what happened if they are drug dealers or thieves? Should they follow that example? Most of their parents are in jail, and they want to be like them, for them it is normal to visit them there, they don’t see the whole picture, they are kids and they still believe in what their parents let them know it is better, I can’t change their parents, I can’t change what they are living, but I can give them a good English class!

And also as Vera and other classmates said I would like to have access to a computer, or a TV, to watch some videos or TV shows in English with my students

Why should Mexican Kids Learn English?
Because knowing English in the future they will open many doors to the world, English is the universal language, study a foreign language than their mother tongue from childhood stay in contact with the globalized world.

What are the main obstacles your face, When Teaching them?
One of the major obstacles that I face every day, is the lack of commitment by parents to bring to school daily to children.
Remember that in Preschool We teach three classes a week and if children don´t come to school for lack of this commitment, there isn´t continuity.
Another obstacle is not having enough material to teach classes, all material I used to teach English is mine.

There are other reasons that are an obstacle, but those reasons my classmates have said so I totally agree with them.

In my opinion , I think that English as a foreing language is important in our daily life as students or teachers, because we are changing and the advances in the world are moving faster. In one hand kids should learn english because their needs in the future will be others and they must be prepared for all the changes that we are having according to the globalization and the intercultural situations. In other hand English is a tool that will help them to open doors so they probably could have better opportunities to improve their lifes.

Some of the obstacles we faced everyday in our class is the culture. People don't like to read in other words they are not interested in succeed so imagine how are our classes, no material, disorganization, break up families not interesting teachers, disable students and lot of things. So our job is very hard.

I agree with some of my partners but the problems are not only the materials I think that Education is having a big challenge.

In relation with Nelly and Edna comments I agree with them, because is a tool to open doors in the future, but actually English is the Universal language, it is supposed that Mandarin will be the most important language in the future.

In relation with Virginia just some parents have lack of interest in relation with English but in my case I can see that parents are very happy that their kids learn more things in English than in Spanish, and in my community some of these parents can't read so I continue thinking that is cultural problems.

Now a days is necessary that our students learn English because is an important tool that education is giving them in order to face what they find in their way which has something to do with the language (almost everything), I think it is great that public education is giving the opportunity to learn a second language in primary schools, I believe our students can learn a lot if we as teachers give the best of us.

At the beginning, when I started giving classes to them I didn’t know how to work with kids because I had never worked with them but as time has passed by I’ve learnt to know what they like and how they learn better so I have done the best I can and now that is not the problem, what it is really difficult for me is the lesson plan SEP send us because sometimes it mentions numbers of pages to work on but we never receive the textbooks so it is difficult to know the main topics.

For me is the time because they have just 3 hours a week and sometimes Ss. don´t assist to school and they loose the topic. Another problem is that their parents have previous knowledge about english but with bad pronunciation and the kids say "That their parents are correct" and it´s dificult to improve the previous knowledge that their parents taught them.

I believe that this is a very good idea.Firstable English is the predominant language in the business world.Most books of any topic specially the technical ones are written in that language.Eventhough children do not know what the English language is and although they do not understan how beneficial this language is going to be in their future we have a very srong obligation to teach them this language.Childhood is the right age for them to start learning this additional language.Children who will study all the way to University will understand how important it was to learn this language,specially when they make themselves ready for their future opportunities to come.

Some kids do not care about the English.They watch cartoons and movies in spanish so why bother learning another language.Well to counteract this ideas i have to prepare classes with a great deal of stimulus.That is entertaining and joyful.

WHY SHOULD MEXICAN KIDS LEARN ENGLISH?
Mainly to communicate in a second language or at least to understand it. Actually they will have an advantage in future to have solutions or alternatives in life. Moreover it’s a requirement into the New Educative Reform for new syllabuses focused on competences on The Elementary Education. SEP is looking to elevate the covering and get better the quality of teaching learning. Hence the carry out of teachers and necessary equipment to performance the activities with children.
In addition to scaffold specific learning on them, also to generate a new culture, to articulate multidisciplinary knowledgment, work with them in an integral form. They have the opportunity to change the traditional way to work, by working in collaborative way into a context. Because some children already know many words in English so we have articulate previous an new knowledge to reinforce them and we know they have the advantage to imitate sounds and speak even better than us. They need new changes because they are a new generation. So it is necessary to develop their skills to acquire competences.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?
The lack of material, technological and economic sources.
When we have the challenge of huge groups.
The psychological, social and economic situations they are involved.
The lack of practicing the language outside.
Also when we don’t have strategies to control the group.

Why should mexican kids learn English?
Kids should learn English first because this is the language that is spoken almost in all the world or at least you can find somebody who speak it, so you can comunicate in a strange country and second because they are going to have better oportunities than students that are finishing their studies in the present and of course to get a better job.

What are the main obstacles you face when teaching them?
The most principal obstacle, I think, is the family environment in which they are because not all the children have a beautiful family or a good relation with them, so that affects their attention in the school and as a result they don´t learn the way we want it.

Mexican kids need to learn English to undrestan people from other coutries when they have the opportunity to travel. They need English to get better job opportunities and to use new technology. They need it because they have a new whay to interact by computers with people from all the world, and English is the lamguage that all the world is using to communicate.

The obstacles I face is that I don´t have books for all my students and I don´t have flashcards. Other thing is that I have students with deifferent necessities, some students don´t eat enough at home, other have family problems, other students are taking psicological help or medication. This are the main problems that I have.

Unfortunately, I work in a very difficult environment, I work in Col. Guerrero, and the students are involved in a serie of problems like drugs, familiar conflicts, lack of interest by their parents, etc. and this situation leads to bad behaviors. Sometimes I think it is very, very difficult but I try to do my best, trying they understand the benefits they can get if they are better prepared in this case learning English

I think that nowadays it's very important for everybody to learn English because games, videos and everything is in English, including the accesses to them by internet, and if you don't know the language it's impossible to get them. It's not just for school or getting jobs, but for your every day life.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBSTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?

The obstacles we find as teachers are: the lack of interest for this subject, and at the same time the lacking of new and modern strategies and knowledges that some of us have in the teaching area. Another obstacle we find in both, teachers and students, is the exagerated use of translations and the help of the mother tongue to make explanations or give instructions.

SELF-EVALUATION.

1.- BEING A TEACHER IS MANY THINGS. HOW DO YOU FEEL AFTER YOUR EVALUATION?

It's very difficult for me to evaluate myself, even though I know I've been doing all my best effort all the time, because after the evaluation I took last March 25, I already know the lacking I have in the area of methodology that has to be improved to continue guiding children in the best way of learning.

2.- WHAT DID YOU DISCOVER?

The lack of knowledges in the area of methodology that I have.

3.- WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO DO ABOUT IT?

First of all study hard to improve my skills in this area, making the changes I need to continue working as a teacher, because as we know, nowadays everybody has to be up to date in all areas, not just in teaching, but in your every day life.

I think mexican children should learn english because in the 21th century we can keep in touch with people all around the world, besides that english is a language that is speaked all around the world. Also learning a second language stimulates communicative skills, kids can access to scientific information too.

WHY SHOULD MEXICAN KIDS LEARN ENGLISH?
Kids should learn English because is an important tool for them. Nowadays to learn English it's not a luxury it's a need. Mexican kids live daily with english words, when they use their computer (internet), when they play video games or watch cartoons on TV. All the time they can see many information in English. So, for that reason i consider that learning this language can help them in their personal development but also for to get a better jos opportunities in the future.
I´m happy because SEP is supporting this English Program in Preschool and Primary Schools and like SEP said "to improve the quality of education for the students to attain a better academic performance".

WHAT ARE THE MAIN OBTACLES YOU FACE WHEN TEACHING THEM?
There are some obstacles:The attitude of some parents that don´t pay attention to their kids, the time is not enough for the English classes, we don´t have enough material and resources and unfortunately the bad behavior of some students (some of them are medicated), so l´m trying to apply some theories in the classroom with my classmates.

COMMENTARIES
I´m agree with Czar because if you look around, there´s a lot of english information, so, we need to prepare our kids and give them all the tools in order to increase their personal development and knowledges.
I'm agree with M.Marcos Juárez for the same reason.

I thik that the worst is their bad behavior due to the habits that they have at home. Many times they are not listened at home and they are very anxious and need to shout or fight to overcome that anxiety because they do not kow another way to do it. It is not difficult to help some of them, the problem is that they are a lot of.
